Sure, if this would be of help. There's meatloaf with potatos and veg with a salad. Fried or Shake and bake chicken with some sides, like potatos or rice and gravy with a vegetable. Just baked chicken. Sometimes just spaghetti with garlic bread or a help yourself like burger night. Pork chops with rice a roni and green beans. One night a week though is leftover night. The best of the leftovers with some additional sides. Sometimes breakfast for dinner is great. For instance,
bacon and eggs or sausage with pancakes or just some nice fried potatos. Potatos were eaten alot at our house. Just about every night with some type of meat. We always had bread and butter or a salad of some kind. I can remember chicken and beef being eaten more often than pork. We'd have those boxed pasta dishes instead of potatos also. Beverages were usually just water or ice tea.

There's really no single American cuisine. Different parts of the country eat quite differently.
If you're looking for the most common American dinner of the previous century, it would be one of three kinds of meat--beef, pork, or chicken--cooked in one of four ways, fried, deep-fried, roasted, or broiled. Generally unadorned tho' the chicken could be breaded and the chicken or pork might get barbecue sauce. Accompanied by potatoes (mashed or deep-fried, and baked if it's a beefsteak) and some sort of canned vegetable--corn, peas, carrots, lima beans, or a combo like peas & carrots or succotash (lima beans & corn).
In the last couple of decades, more Americans have quit eating regular meals and instead have turned toward eating on the run. Typical dinners include all the items on the menu at McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Subway.

I live in the American South and along with the NEW American cuisine we eat the traditional foods of the South. Black-eyed peas, kale-collards-turnip greens, corn bread, creamed corn, hush puppies, fried fish and seafood (we get fresh craw-fish, shrimp, oysters and gulf fish off the boats), rice cooked many different ways, bread pudding, red beans and lots of fresh vegetables grown locally. This is my comfort food. But I learned to cook the trendy way that is popular lately too, with fresh herbs and spices and a variety of ingredients not indigenous to my area. I like to cook.

Sure. I live in KS...in the dead center of the country.
Today, we ate waffles for breakfast with maple syrup and butter, and drank milk with them.
For lunch, we had beef and bean burritos with sour cream, tomato, hot salsa, and onions. (okay, so burritos are somewhat mexican, but my husband is mexican.)
For dinner, we had chicken breaded with corn flake crumbs, then fried, and chilled sliced cucumbers with hot sauce and lime juice, and also had corn on the cob with salt and butter.
Typical american dinners:
Hamburgers on buns with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise.
Chips or fries, and a soft drink. (coke)
Macaroni & cheese, sliced fresh tomatoes, and canned green beans.
Hot dogs.
Fried fish with macaroni & cheese.
Spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread and a salad.
Any meat with any potato and any vegetable.
Lasagne
Soup & salad.
Soup & Sandwiches.

I live in Texas, and this is cattle country, so beef is cooked many ways. Spaghetti, lasagna, hamburgers, meat loaf, chicken fried steak, pot roast, beef ribs, beef pot pie, beef stew, and , of course, in the summer those back yard grills are smoking with grilled T-Bones and sirloin strips.

I grew up on steak, baked potatoes, wild rice, and iceberg lettuce salad in the midwest. Now it's more like pasta, enchiladas, tons of seafood, roast Cornish game hens, non-iceberg lettuce salads, nothing that I used to eat growing up.

we pretty much eat different foods from different parts of the world since our population is so diverse. but i suppose some more traditional american meals would be something like pot roast with gravy and mashed potatoes.
