Going on a VEGETARIAN DIET depends on one's mind, if you think you cannot stop eating meat then please stop your nonsense, because there are alot of VEGETARIAN out in the world who are more healthy and more compassionate, not only that, VEGETARIANS are not a moving COFFINs for animals, whereas MEAT EATERS are moving COFFINs for animals, because every where you go you eat meat and these animals died and end up in your stomach which is a COFFIN for them.

I have no link to provide but I also would like to comment on answerer #1 link .. I agree that the cons in that article are talking about vegans specifically not vegetarians .. I for one am a vegan and all the cons it listed are part of my everyday life except the article makes it sound like such a problem which is untrue .. not today anyway .. so here is part of the big dilemma .. I go to drug store and can buy crest( not vegan) or tom's toothpaste(vegan) or nature's gate (vegan) ... no rocket science here ..I buy the vegan ones , it says no leather well I gave that up 25 years ago and never have a problem finding great vegan shoes , belts jackets and bags ..and I Like shoes a lot .. own maybe 30 pairs and 6 pairs of boots .. the article just took an everyday vegan life and tried to make it sound like ..well you will lose your mind ..when in fact it is very simple lifestyle .. ..my glass is half full ,full,or overflowing .. you are looking for cons that do not exist ... as much is just a frame of mind .. not a reality

i will agree that a poorly planned vegetarian diet can leave one malnourished but in most cases the veg can be as nourished as the carnivore. the biggest problem that my family has found with my "new" diet is that they are accustomed to a nice juicy steak on friday nights. i can overcome the taste problem (the cut of meat does not matter as much as the marinade and spices, which are mostly vegetarian anyways), but they are used to the feel of eating meat. i guess the "feel" of pulling apart dead tissue is a reason not to be a vegetarian.

The two main cons I've seen personally are that some restaurants (esp. steakhouses) put meat in everything, and your friends and family might be weirded out at first.
**EDIT: Ack, I forgot the most important one - it's called "failure to thrive". Sometimes people have some (known or unknown) health problems or allergies that can make it too difficult to realistically be vegetarian, no matter how well they are eating. It's not likely, but be careful anyway and put your health first.

This is a fairly good site, the cons seem to be mostly for vegans though.
http://nutrition.suite101.com/article.cfm/vegetarianism
There's a nutrition site that has a "pitfalls" section that would be possible reasons against vegetarianism.
Really, the biggest downfall is convenience.
By the way, the site the first poster gave was very inaccurate. (Edit: Another poster had a better phrased analysis of why.)

It is cheaper and faster to get a cheeseburger for a dollar than a salad for four.
I'm not sure if this is a pro or con vegetarian question but the two links above are ludacris propaganda-type websites. Making something simple and making a show.
I don't have any links for you.

Your species has not evolved to be vegetarians. It also means you can't enjoy a nice juicy steak.
You should not thumbs down an answer just because someone does not agree with your opinion.
