As you can see from the previous answers, men CAN get yeast infections and have symptoms. It is probably more likely for a man not to have any symptoms. He may be able to pass it along, but a recent study says otherwise:

This site has pictures of male yeast infection:

"Yeast" is caused by a single-celled fungus called Candida albicans. Babies often get it in their mouths, where it's called thrush, or as a diaper rash.

People with certain medical conditions are more likely to get Candida infections.

Yes, a man can get a yeast infection, on his penis and in his mouth. It is more common in guys who aren't circumcised because the bacteria has a warm dark place to grow in the folds of the foreskin. Like a woman's, a yeast infection is itchy, has an odor and sometimes even a discharge. With a man, burning might occur when urinating, but not always.

Luckily, just like a woman's yeast infection, it is treatable with over the counter medications, like medicated wipes and creams. To treat yourself while waiting to go to Wal Mart or the drugstore, take a good, thorough shower with antibacterial soap (Dial is awesome!) Even though it isn't as easy to reach the inside of your penis as it is for a woman to soap her vagina, it's possible. so shower good and rinse just as good. Pull back the foreskin, if you still have it and wash there REALLY GOOD! That will help the itching temporarily.

Can I get a yeast infection from my girlfriend?

Mayo Clinic endocrinologist and men's health specialist Todd Nippoldt, M.D., and colleagues answer select questions from readers.

Answer

Yes, you can get a yeast infection from sexual contact with a woman who has a vaginal yeast infection. The same yeast that causes vaginal infections in women can cause infections of the penis in men. However, just because your girlfriend has a genital yeast infection doesn't mean you'll get one.

Signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection include a red rash, itching or burning at the tip of your penis. Fortunately, most male yeast infections are easily treated with over-the-counter antifungal treatments, such as Monistat.

To treat a male yeast infection, apply the medication directly to the affected skin twice daily for a week. If the rash doesn't go away or if it recurs frequently, consult your doctor. Persistent or recurrent yeast infections can be associated with other medical conditions such as diabetes.

When one partner has a genital yeast infection, it's important for both partners to get treatment. Your girlfriend could infect you, treat her own infection and then get reinfected by having sex with you again. For this reason, it's generally recommended that you refrain from sexual intercourse until all signs and symptoms of the infection are gone.

Yes most definetley. If a man has sex with a woman woth a yeast infection he can get it from her both orally and intercourse especially if the man is un circumsized. A man can also get a yeast infection from taking an antibiotic for a long period of time.

yes, it's true, men can get yeast infections too. and not just thrush, the oral yeast infection that is common in men with HIV. men can get penile yeast infections, and although i've never had one myself, i hear it's not pleasant. not only that, but heterosexual couples who have unprotected sex can pass yeast infections back and forth endlessly, so it seems like it might be a good idea to learn more about male yeast infections and get your boy cleaned up if there's reason to suspect he has a yeast infection of his own.

Check with your doctor!
