We are thinking to make the following: egg salad sandwiches some white and some wheat, party peanuts, pimento cheese and captain's wafers (crackers), chips, mints, and cake served with fruit punch as a beverage. Does this sound ok? Any ideas on how to cut the sandwiches or how to make fancy things or different ideas of food. Thank you.

For the cookie cutter idea do you think that will waster bread? I thought about doing it but was afraid of wasting bread.

No- you won't be wasting bread, if you save it. Chop it up and add it to sauteed onions, carrots and celery, add some seasoning and chicken stock and you have homemade stuffing!! :)

How many folks are you having over? Since not everyone is keen on egg salad, you might include a second choice as well. Your sandwiches can be cut into quarters for "finger sandwiches" or in to shapes. In addition to the pimento cheese spread on crackers, how about throwing in some cheddar to slice? For your chips, add a dip of salsa over cream cheese, or more traditional onion, clam, or ranch dips. And make your fruit punch with sparkling flavored water as well as your ginger ale. Here is an additional menu you might want to consider:

1. Sliced cold cuts for sandwiches
2. Cheese platter with cheddar, gouda, brie
3. Assorted crackers and baguettes
4. Hot Artichoke Dip with corn chips
5. Condiment tray with cornichons, baby sweet pickles, olives
6. Carrot stix and celery with ranch dressing
7. Cupcakes, brownies, cookies

The only thing I would add is a relish dish with pickles, sweet and dill, olives and maybe some pickled peppers. You can cut the sandwiches with cookie cutters and make them cute shapes, or just cut them in triangles.
