I could eat chicken, but when my neighbors had some baby calves out back, I called one Herbie. I know they killed Herbie and I don't think I could ever eat veal again. I don't eat Deer meat either, it could have been Bambie. But I do eat beef but not much pork because I saw the neighbors cut them up too.
I think if you were forced between starvation and using the animals to survive I probably wood. Sorry.

It's a tough one, isn't it? For instance, I'll eat veal (wienerschnitzel), but I won't touch lamb, as a lamb is cute. (And, also, to me it does taste gross.) For years I wouldn't eat fish 'cause I kept seeing it as I was eating it. I still have problems with fish, and will only eat salmon. I always liked chicken (breasts), and once, when I was in high school, my mom, who worked, had me put the chicken in the oven when I got home from school. It was a whole chicken, and I was to remove the gizzard and something else from it, season it, and stick it in the oven. I was totally grossed out!!!! Raw chicken looks nothing like cooked chicken! And the stuff that was inside the chicken--geez, I almost threw up!!!! The one thing looked like a penis; it was disgusting. Needless to say, I didn't eat any chicken that night, and for a while after that. Also, raw chicken smells. Every time I would work with raw chicken I'd have to get into the right frame of mind to touch it--ever have to cut out blood veins?? Nasty!!!! My family now eats mainly vegetarian, and I do think that people should have some awareness as to what the whole butchering process is. Also, for those who've never worked with raw meat/poultry/seafood, they ought to. What an eye opener.

Vegetarians dont eat meat so the point of this question is mute here. Regardless of that, most of the people I know close their eyes to the fact that meat comes from an animal...they prefer not to think about it and like to turn a blind eye....that's the problem with many other issues too.

My husband and a guy he worked with use to get a beef and split it. They would put in in the stock truck the night before they took it to the meat packing plant. My husband would come in and ask me to go see our beef and I said no I wouldn't eat it if I saw it !!!!! Plus we bought a hundred baby chicks to raise and kill and put in the freezer !! Well needless to say we ended up with one hundred pet chickens !!!!!!! lol

While I never have, I don't think it would bother me. I've caught and killed seafood before. It's how things are. Food chain. Think about this, if you could hear fruit and vegetables scream in pain when you cut their ties to the ground and trees, would you eat them?

I would. I'm a chef. I've seen the forced feed ducks, and the hanging of the veal. Till people stop ordering the food, we will still make it.

That is why slaughterhouses dont have windows. I dont know who would eat meat, if they knew of the suffering animals go through for the sake of human taste buds.

I wouldn't even COOK it, let alone eat it!
I'm a huge meat-lover, but if I had to kill my own, I would starve.
Even my chickens have proper burials at the end of their natural lives! lol

NOPE, i have dressed out beef, pork (cuddly) chickens and
wild game -- you eat it, you dress it -- you enjoy it live, you
enjoy it on the table -- I grow veggies too and enjoy seeing
them in the garden -- then dress them out to feed my
fat belly --God meant it to be thus -- check out nature.

It breaks my heart to see an animal suffer. If I ever have to fend for myself, I'd starve because I cannot bring myself to hurt or kill an animal.
