I am a 30 year old female and funny thing is that I haven't had any type of intercourse for the last 2 years due to pregnancy, child birth and postpartum depression.

I was diagnosed a few days ago and have to see my ob/gyn for a colop...(spelling?). Can the infection go away again? Btw, I'm married.

It's estimated about 75 - 80% of the world will have HPV at some point in their life. It is VERY common. It is one of the most common STDs out there today. I've read only about 25% of the people who have HPV actually know they have it. That's one of the reasons it is so common. There really are no signs or symptoms of the virus so most people who have it don't realize it and end up spreading it around unknowingly.

It sounds like they want you to have a colposcopy done. I've had two of them done over the last 6 years. They just want to take some sample tissue from the cervix and examine it more throughly to make sure it won't turn into something worse - like cervical cancer. They probably want you to come back ever 3 or 4 months too, just to keep an eye on it. I've been going to my OBGYN every 4 months for the last 6 years!

For most women the virus does go away. There is NO cure, but most women basically "fight off" the virus. Some women will have it the rest of their life though.

Everyone does not have that - but it is a lot more common than it was even 10 years ago. Once you have it, it stays.
It is a sexually transmitted disease that can cause cervical cancer. You should also tell your doc if you are pregnant, since it can cause some probs in the baby.
A culposcopy is a long, very boring vaginal exam where they put a vinegar solution inside your vagina and on your cervix, and look under a special light for abnormalities.

well, your husband could be carrying it, he could have had it laying dormant for many years. You could also have had the same situation. over 70% of our population has one of the72 different kinds of HPV, and the sad thing is, there is no way to test men for it besides for the appearance of genital warts. when you get your colposcopy, they will look at your cervix with a weird microscope thing and then do a biopsy of areas that look cancerous after they spray a mixture of vinegar and water on your cervix to be able to identify these areas. after doing thing, they will do what is called HPV typing, where they figure out which of the 72 different kinds you have. anywho. most of the time it's just a fleeting thing and it comes and goes. sometimes it's cancerous, but if it's not, you are fine. otherwise, if it is, you will just have to take the proper percautions after that. also, make sure your husband didn't cheat, because he also could have just picked it up. i didn't want to say it, but be sure.

You should take the Colposcopy to see what type you have. The two type of high risky may cause genital warts. The

other two type is associated with cervical cancer.

HPV is known to 120 type strains but 37 are known to sexual transmitted disease with high contagion. It would be

spreaded through skin to skin contact with infected area during sexual intercourse, especially for genital area.

Currently, there is a contravercy that the HPV vaccination is going to cause birth defects and cancer anyway.

As far as HPV, if you are eating plenty of phytochemicals, your body will snuff out cancer before it begins.
