You caught my attention with this question. I have the same problem. I live in San Jose, CA, so I can't help you or even answer my own question.

Years ago, the H. Salt Esq chain served an OK meal of fish & chips, but I think they've gone out of business. I used to be able to get a KILLER plate of f&c with mushy peas, etc. But Lancashire Hot Pot went belly up when the manager quit. For some reason, f&c has fallen out of favor, and a good restaurant is very hard to find. I can get to one, but it's in Salinas, CA and is a 120 mile drive.

Go to the Yahoo home page and click on "yellow pages". If you haven't already given it a location, click change location and type in St Louis. Then do a search on "fish and chips". You might get lucky and find a little hole in the wall out of the way place. I truly hope you do. If the search comes up with nothing, keep expanding your search area outward until you find something.

Good luck, and keep that jar of malt vinegar handy.
