It depends on the persons underlying condition which led to the trach to begin with, but trachs are not always permanent and they usually close and heal up well.

Much depends on the reason why the person had it in the first place. They are reversible, but only if the initial condition improves.

No, as soon as the problem causing the need for it resolves, they will remove the tube and the patient will resume normal breathing.
