I am dating a Puerto Rican guy and would like to impress he and his family by making an attempt at the cuisine.
Thank you in advance!

I'm Puerto Rican. unfortuantely I cannot cook. I will tell you this. The stereotipical Puerto Rican food has rice and chicken in it. Well, at least rice. We either eat plain white rice or colored rice. Beans is pretty common too. I think the most tipical is rice chicken and beans. But it could be anything as long as it has rice in it. Rice, beans, and a fried egg. Rice beans and pork. colored rice with peas and vienna sausages with something else. What I have noticed or at least what my wife points out (she is white) is that we do not eat many vegetables. Something to try is plantains. If they are riped you can cut them at an angle (small pieces) and fry them. Serve them with rice and some sort of meat, preferably chicken. If they are not ripe then there is a process to make TOSTONES. Tostones and fried chicken or pork goes very well, especially with colored rice.

P.S. did I mention the rice? we like rice.
