My father uses it for his Nebulizer and said he had read somewhere once where he could make his own?

I agree. In the past some patients were taught this before Medicare covered so much. I have never had a patient that Medicare would not cover saline-most nebulizer medications currently come premixed with saline, so he should doublecheck that he does need it.

Theoretically he could make his own ...but I wouldn't recommend it for a nebulizer. Nebulizer treatments are being inhaled into the lungs. If the saline solution is not 100% sterile and also the container he keeps it in , he could easily get pneumonia from inhaling germs and organisms directly into his lungs. In the end....the hospital and doctor bills would far outweigh the cost of the saline solution and he would have to endure much more unnecessary suffering.
