You didn't say how old you are, if you are old enough to cook, then I suggest going to these web sites: goveg.com, vegcooking.com, peta.org, (PETA has a vegetarian starter kit in the resources section to left on the page, they send it to you free, you need to be 13 or older) and do searches for vegetarian sites for information. If you go to the PETA site, they have pictures of how animals are mistreated at the slaughter houses. Show these pictures to your mom and let her know that this is why you chose to be vegetarian(if indeed that is what inspired you). Even if you are under 18 you still have the right to eat the way you feel is best for you. If your mom is resistant to cooking for you or understanding why you chose to be vegetarian (even after looking at the horrible images of animals being mistreated) then you may be on your own for meals. there is so much information on the internet for recipes and foods.that you shouldn't be hungry any more. Are you vegan or vegetarian? Vegan is when you eat absolutly no animal products, such as milk, eggs, cheese, butter and animal fats. Vegetarian is when you eat milk (most dairy foods), but no animal fat such as what would come from an animal after death (lard, from pork). Butter is made from cream, the cow is not killed. Check labels to see if any animal product are in the foods you plan to eat. If you can cook for yourself then the sky is the limit, eat veggies of any kind, salads, even pizza, just take the toppings off if possible, or ask for just cheese pizza ( unless you are vegan). If your mom will not buy the foods you need then you may be limited to salads, veggies, cereals, bread, crackers and any thing you can eat with out meat. Sometimes I just eat cereal, or a grilled cheese sandwich. Vegetarian meat substitutes can be expensive and unless you are old enough to have a job and be able to buy your own food you will be limited on the variety of foods to eat. Sometimes parents don't understand their child's reasons for doing what they do. Be patient with your mom, don't argue with her, just be polite when you explain why you made the decision to be vegetarian. She may come around, she may not which ever way it turns out don't give up, Make sure you eat a balanced diet with enough proteins, carbs and fats (good fats, olive oil, nuts and such). Peanut butter, eggs, beans and oatmeal have protein, whole wheat breads and cereals are good carbs and fiber, eat many colors of veggies and fruits. trail mix and pretzels are good snacks, remember to look for animal fats in the ingredients, check out the websites I mentioned earlier and ask others for advice such as your family doctor or school nurse. Good luck and have patients with your mom, I am sure she wants only the best for you. Her reluctance about accepting your vegetarianism may be that she worries about it being a healthy way to eat. Show her the information about how healthy it really is and how bad meat can be for the body. She may come around. I wish you all the luck in the world and good health.

I think you should sit down with your Mom and explain to her that you really would like to be vegetarian and that it means a lot to you. Tell her how you really feel and ask her to support you. It takes some time to adjust to the new way of cooking and it might be difficult and time consuming for your Mom, because she needs to take a totally different approach. Cook together with her, she'll appreciate it.
I used to be carnivore, but turned herbivore :-) It takes some adjustment. Once you get the basics, you can start to improvise.
Raw food is really good. Big salads with different kinds of lettuce and all kinds of grated vegetables and throw some nuts or almonds in. A light lemon and olive oil dressing, salt and pepper and a little sugar or maple syrup.
Another thing I really love is a simple lentil soup/stew. Just boil lentils with herbs, garlic, onion, pepper, salt. You can also put some carrots and potatoes into it. It is delicious and very nutritious. A great source of protein. Try to find some easy vegetarian cook books or look into some vegetarian sites on the Internet. There is sooo much nutrition in vegetables and the more variety you eat the better for your health. Also try to eat rye bread instead of wheat bread. And don't forget to eat fruit. Bananas are a great source of energy and drink lots of water. Hope I could be of some help. Good luck!

Well, use the resource you are sitting in front of to educate yourself and then you will have information to use in convincing Mom you are serious.
Also, if you want to make a major change in the way you eat you can't really expect Mom to continue to take full responsibility for feeding you. If you are hungry find something acceptable to eat for yourself. That goes back to learning how to eat healthily on a vegetarian diet.
Once Mom sees you're serious she'll come around. But sounds like right now you've just made a decision and expect her to take it from there.

OK first of all I wanna say im not a vegatarian. even though that is the case if my child wants to be I will by any means find out how to make sure he gets everything he needs. that is just plain wrong how your mom is acting. I lived with vegitarians and we never tried pushing one lifestyle on the other. we all cooked our own stuff and in my case i tried some of their dishes which was quite good.
by all means if you can do it buy your own food and cook it yourself, reverse the guilt trip to her. Since you are buying and cooking for yourself maybe she will feel guilty for not providing for you, but then again who knows.

i'm non-veg because of the fact my father and mom have been non-veg. yet now once I study a assertion of LORD BUDHHA , I certainly have very virtually stopped eating non-veg. LORD BUDHA mentioned--- U have taken hundreds of thousands of rebirths on the earth. lots of situations those lambs or pigs or rooster have been ur father, mom uncles or toddlers. Why to consume flesh of ur father and mom etc.? Swami Ramdev explains -- whilst u get indignant , u commence sweating, commence trembling etc, whilst u are afraid , u commence sweating , trembling etc. Why ? because of the fact there r secretions of harmones etc. interior physique. So u can understand what proportion undesirable secretions take place whilst an animal is killed . eating this way of flesh is amazingly undesirable for psychological wellness. Now u see lots of swine/cow/rooster -flu etc are spreading simply by animals. apart from Nature has no longer made us to consume non-veg. because of the fact a non-veg eating animal has very long gut to digest it yet v have small one. V don't have teeths like tiger. All non-veg eater animals drink water by making use of tongue yet v drink like cow.

Learn to cook your own meals! LOTS of recipes out there. Try allrecipes.com - they have a whole vegetarian section. I don't mean to sound rude, but you should not expect your mother to go out of her way to accomodate your choice of diet - be self sufficient. You may even win over the whole family with a vegetarian meal.

I am sorry you have a mother like that, my dear. I fully support my 12 year old being a vegetarian. Email me and tell me what your cooking level is, and what kind of ingredients you have access to, and I will help you. Stick to your guns, my dear!
