Pelvic inflammatory disease can be caused by STD's or even just an over growth of opportunistic bacteria because of pH changes in the vagina. The discomfort would make a woman seek medical attention. Take the medications they prescribed religiously until the full course has been consumed. Infertility can occur with those that go untreated for long periods of time. It's not a sin to have it. It's a sin to keep it. You should start feeling better in 3-4 days. If not go back. Things will be ok. Always practice protected sex using condoms.

PID causes infertility by causing scar tissue to form in the Fallopian tubes and uterus. These scars block the path of eggs or intefere with implantation of embroys. However, if you catch it early enough, you can cure PID by curing the underlying infection (chlamydia, BV, gonorrhea, etc.). If you do treat PID quickly enough, you can stop the damage before it hurts your fertility.
Your doctor can help determine the extent of the damage by doing a pelvic exam. So after you're done with treatment for PID, have a pelvic exam to check the condition of your reproductive organs.
Good luck! Get well soon.

Pelvic inflammatory disease is infection of the upper female genital tract: the cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries; abscesses may occur. Common symptoms and signs include lower abdominal pain, cervical discharge, and irregular vaginal bleeding. Long-term complications include infertility, chronic pelvic pain, and ectopic pregnancy. Diagnosis is clinical and by PCR of cervical specimens for Neisseria gonorrhoeae and chlamydiae; a saline wet mount; and occasionally, ultrasonography or laparoscopy. Treatment is with antibiotics.

My sister had PID a couple years ago and she's had two children since then, and another one on the way...
Recurrent episodes of PID can result in scarring of the fallopian tubes, which can lead to infertility, ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, or chronic pelvic pain. Infertility occurs in about one in eight women who have PID.
