I believe men and women are equally susceptible to the disease. It presents itself sooner in men due to their genitalia being external. It just takes longer for symptoms to appear in women.

In historical accounts of the disease, you will see numerous mens' names listed. In historical times, I suspect numerous cases of women with the disease were ignored, due to the simple fact that they were women. Remember, equal rights didn't exist in historic times, and women were often treated as property, or totally disregarded altogether when sick.

Women are more vulnerable to catch all STD's...I can't believe people don't know this. Women's reproductive organs are much like a sponge directly to their blood system. Men have had sex with women with STD's that they were married too and dating and never gotten anything. Think about it the males uretha i comparison to a woman genitalia and tell me who has more access to their main blood stream? Simple.

I don't think there really is a difference but women have a marginally lower risk because their discharge is slightly acidic which makes it ever so slightly harder for bugs to survive. This I applies to most STDs including HIV but like I said, only tiny winy difference. . .
