I have been having mucous that changes from wello to green to brown for the last month. My doctor gave me 10 days of doxycicline and then a week of amoxicillin and it still has not cleared up. What should I do.

The reason I am asking this question is exactly what you see here. So many different opinions and it's scaring me.

If you have COPD, then the chronic bronchitis is going to be a fact of life. Assuming you've quit smoking, which is the number one thing, you may occasionally need bronchodilators and steroids might be of occasional benefit, antibiotics statistically make a small difference, but you have what you have. Watch your diet and exercise program, stay away from respiratory irritants, and hope for the best. By the way, your risk of serious complications isn't that great, and cultures are generally not indicated. Your doctor has treated you in a perfectly appropriate manner.

Go back to the doctor, or go to a different doctor if you're not satisfied with the treatment this one's giving you. Have you been given a diagnosis of COPD? If so, antibiotics aren't going to make it go away.

My friend, you have two choices. (1) return to the Doctor and ask for more tests, or, see another Doctor. (2) Contact the funeral home of your choice and make your arrangements.

Go back to the doctor immediately. The program could spread to the heart, infect the values, and travel to the brain and spine and cause serious if not deadly illnesses.
