She really needs to go to a free clinic or a doctor. They can test her and give her a definite diagnosis AND there is treatment for it. She may have to tell her parents, but I promise they will still love her. They will most likely be thankful that she came to them with the information rather than hiding it.
It could be something else, so being tested for it is very important. Good luck.

She should 1st go to the clinic to be tested. She can discuss these issues with the Dr. and even a social worker who will protect her right to privacy. Once she has decided she is ready to tell her parents the social worker can even assist in the process. The most important thing is treatment & education so it doesn't happen again.

depends on how old she is and how open her parents are.
if she wasn't supposed to be active but did it anyway and got infected, she needs to go to a teen clinic and receive treatment. they can't tell her parents.
she can't just sit and do nothing, because that would make the situation worse on her part.
does she know who she got it from? if so, she needs to tell him/her before that person spreads it to other unsuspecting people.
stick by her side and be the best friend you can be, since right now she needs that. do some research and take her to get a pap smear so doctors can locate and stop any other diseases.
good luck!

Get tested. It is the only way to know for sure.
Embarrassment and fear, only make the issue worse to deal with. Many sexual health clinics have pamphlets designed to help people have difficult discussions with people about their health.
Contact your local hospital for a listing of sexual health clinics -- or a family doctor if your friend trusts the doctor.

Type 1 is usually cold sores in the mouth. Do you mean parents when you say rents? Well if so she should first talk to a doctor then explain to her parents. Try to not stress out.

I would just tell her to ask the doctor for some info on herpes and offer to go with her to see the doctor

She needs to get treatment immediately. Herpes is permanent. If she is still a teen, that is very sad. If her parents know that she is sexually active, they should have warned her.

If she han't gone to the doctor yet, she should do that first. Or she could go to planned parenthood and get tested and they could counsel her and help her tell her parents.
