I'm looking for a party / wedding reception venue in Brighton that could hold 150 people standing (or less) and permits alcohol.

The shindig takes places on Friday July 6th 2007. I'm looking at sports clubs, pubs, small theaters, church halls, community centres - any suggestions?

Oh, and I'm looking at those kind of places as I want to avoid a hotel (expensive, no control, bit dull)

Brighton???

Michigan???

***EDIT : Well since I'm here in the states - guess I can't be of any help. So Sorry!! However, I do know that we have several parks too in our area that allows parties. They have pavilions and it's also okay to bring your own alcoholic beverages. So theres a thought for you. Check out some of your local parks - keeps the party outside in the nice weather, kids if any, can run wild, caterers will also come to parks, nice scenery......***

Few suggestions: hire a club venue out if it's early evening: Revenge, Honey Club, Honey Bar, Charles St Club, Volks Tavern. You can even rent out rooms at the Brighton Pavilion some evenings and/or areas of the Theatre Royal and Brighton Dome, which are all very typical. Otherwise there's St George's Church in Kemptown has a hall and numerous bars you can probably get space at e.g. Ha Ha!, Pitcher and Piano, plus the bars on the Pier as well. Lots of choice, really!

There is a little place along the beach...I forgot the name, but it's very near the pier. Just walk along there and you are bound to find it. Music is good and they have security on the door.

Renting a banquet room in a hotel/motel is usually pretty inexpensive hon... sometimes they will allow you to have it pool side if they have one. (just a suggestion)

Good Luck
