Well some people seem to be confused about honey. Other than that there are plenty of animal ingredients with "neutral" names like gelatin and casein and some E-numbers. There is also beewax in some makeup. I pasted a link with a list of all those ingredients, and explanations.
When buying makeup I just stick to what is labeled vegan. Food ingredients are a lot easier to understand, I think. Although I prefer cooking from scratch.

Fatty acids like glyercin, glycerides, oleic acid, stearic acid, and any of their derivatives can be sourced from animals.
Emulsifiers (stuff that keeps mixtures homogeneous) like lecithin also are potentially sourced from animals.
There are some random ingredients like folic acid that can be bad ju-ju too.
There are tons of publication and websources that list animal ingredients and no single one is comprehensive, so cross reference them.
If you want to be completely sure, you can always call the company. I buy organic food, and they are easier to evaluate becuase they don't have half as many ingredients in them as conventional foods do. Cooking yourself works too!

I worked at this restaurant where they put animal lard in the beans. I had to tell vegans, because most people would assume that there isn't meat in beans.

Ceasar Salad because the dressing has anchovies or anchovy paste.
I think baked goods can be easily mistaken because they have eggs or milk in them but a person wouldn't think of that.

chewing gum-the gum base in most products is animal derived.
Wine-its often "fined" with egg whites and gelatine
"Enriched" products, such as cereal, rice, pasta, flour, etc. The vitamins used to "enrich" it are animal sourced
Vitamins and food supplements: often animal sourced and packaged in gelatine capsules. Gelatine (jello) is made from the boiled bones, skins, hides, ligaments and tendons of slaughtered animals.
Medications-many medication contain animal derived products. Armour thyroid medicine is made by the same company that makes Armour hot dogs.
Ingredients labeled as "natural" flavorings or colors-most often animal sourced
Red food color-made from crushed cochineal beatles, and the primary color in "caramel" color in most soda, juices, etc.
Dead animals are everywhere!
