We are Christians, but unlike other Christains, we believe that God still speaks to His church thru His living prophets and apostles, and that these words can be canonized scripture, just like the Bible.

From what I know of the Mormons they follow the teaching of a man called Joseph Smith who had a vision of Jesus (I think). Try doing a search on Mormonism if you want to know more about them. They have some really good sites and one site in particular is great coz you can email questions to them & they do get back to you, usually within a day or two. :) I think the site address is www.lds.org
An evangelist (in my church anyway) is someone who preaches the good news of Jesus Christ to people who don't believe and they become believers. We believe an evangelist is someone who has a special gift from God in that area. Hope it helps & by the way you're not ignorant. How else are you going to find out if you don't ask.... God bless

There is no difference. Mormon churches have evangelistic rites of passage called missions. Those evangelists are the young well dressed people always in pairs who knock at your door with bibles to share and might insist that you distinguish them from Jehovahs witnesses.
Other Christianity influenced congregations institute various types of evangelism, some refer to themselves as evangelists others as missionaries, and it's all a good fit in the same basket of bible sharing.

You're question isn't ignorance at all. That's how people get smarter and wiser: They ask questions. Lots of them, and sometimes they should be pretty basic.
Mormons evangelical efforts are mainly focused in the young missionaries you see on bicycles. They do most of the proselyting. Also, the church teaches "every member a missionary", but that refers more to leading a moral lifestyle. Any potential convert is referred to the missionaries.
I have to disagree with one post about the laid back attitude of mormon meetings. While some may say their meetings are sacred and reverent, it's actually pretty boring. There is no 'lively music' to be heard, and 'light mindedness', often interpreted as "sense of humor" is discouraged. Sermons are delivered by either rank and file members, or a little farther up the hierarchy. There's no fire and brimstone hell and damnation - it's all very polite, but polite with tons of 'attitute.
The more you know the wiser you become. Keep it up.

from what I know Mormon's are more laid back &
evangelist are more outgoing as far as how they
worship, just go into a church filled w/
evangelist & you will see them singing & dancing
to music & the preacher almost always yells while
giving the sermon, they are lovely people, but a
bit too outgoing for me .
I don't know any mormons so I can't help you out there , sorry

LUCIFER IS THE,LIAR,DECEIVER AND DESTROYER.
Warning teach no other doctrine
1Tm:1:3: As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
1Tm:1:4: Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
1Tm:1:5: Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
1Tm:1:6: From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
1Tm:1:7: Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
RELIGION DOES NOT SAVE, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
IS THE ONLY SAVIOR,FOR THE REST ARE LIES.THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.
