Why do Christians discard half of the bible and claim that Jesus (PBUH) came to make everything new? That is not what Jesus (PBUH) ever claimed. Here is the verse.
Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.51

Christians don't discard the OT, who told you that?
What a silly question!
Our favorite verses often come from Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Job, Zechariah and Malachi. There are more Christians praying for the rebuilding of the OT temple in Jerusalem than there are Jews, for crimeny sakes!

The old testament is certainly not thrown out by Christians. The old testament law is there to show man his sin. The prophecies there confirm God's truth and there are prophecies in the old testament that are yet to be fulfilled. Jesus fulfilled the old testament law and lived within it's rule. He also made clear that no one else could do the same so we would realize that we are unable to live by the law. He summed up the law this way; Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." If you do these then you are fulfilling the old testament teachings.

Okay to try and explain this is not too easy but here goes, the Old Testament was mostly a journey of a people(Hebrews) thru different stages of religious and human developement and part of that developement was the covenant that God made with them.
This covenant was not to be an infinite one because even though God would always br faithful to His part the people by their sinful nature could never be faithful,so in a sense this covenant was more like a contract between God and men.
It was Christ Who took up the ball and ran with it so to speak, on behalf of humankind as only He could remain totally faithful, Jesus is the new and everlasting covenant and is superior and greater than the old one, this is why He is said to have fufilled the law and the Prophets, the fact that in Christ fallen humanity receives a lasting covenant means that man himself cannot break this covenant as he could with the old one for Christ Himself is the first of the new creation and by His ressurrection from the dead is the first fruits of the new and everlasting covenant.

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill (pleroo) them. 18 Truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished (ginomai). 19 Anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."
ginomai
1) to become, i.e. to come into existence, begin to be, receive being
2) to become, i.e. to come to pass, happen
a) of events
3) to arise, appear in history, come upon the stage
a) of men appearing in public
4) to be made, finished
a) of miracles, to be performed, wrought
5) to become, be made
One gets the sense that Jesus was trying to "make" his disciples so as to pass everything over to them to carry on with.

We still use both, the Old and New Testaments. Where do you think the Ten Commandments are? Jesus came to earth to die for our sins, but He never said to ignore the Old Testament.

First you must understand the term fulfill. if I were expecting you to come here i might leave a light on for you..Now after you've already come there is no need to leave the light on. The law was given to us to show our short comings and our need for God. Christ did come to fulfill this need. Those who accept the atonement are by faith changed and in agreement with God's righteousness, The law. if a man is changed he has no need for the law as he is in agreement with God. the law is for those who have not accepted that atonement and been changed it is to show him his need for God as man is not perfect the law does demonstrate his need for God. Christ did come because man had fallen form God's righteousness and he did pay the penalty of death that we can be reunited with a righteous God in his righteousness.

Well not to be rude but Muslims discard the entire Bible in favor of the Koran, not that I care, but I think its silly then to gripe at the Christians for throwing out the first half.
I mean I can tell you from personal experience keeping Kosher is not a walk in the park.

Paul said in Romans that all the OT law is no longer used.
I wonder whether Christian follow Paul or Jesus.
The teaching's of Paul clearly contradict Jesus's teaching.
Why do Christians still follow Paul?
