When you use gel or something in your hair, do u prefer it to be a shiny one or one that gives a matte finish?

Im not a big fan of gel, especially shiny gel I think it looks kind of gross. I actually like to use pomade or hair wax, it goes on nice and clear and does a better job than gel, top it off with a bit of hair spray and its complete. I love shiny healthy hair but since I straighten my hair I use Pantene Pro V Ice Breakers shampoo and conditioner and I also you something called silk therapy before I blow dry my hair. It gives you shiny healthy looking hair :]

I like a matte finish on guys, but gel is usually shiny and styling wax or paste leaves a matte finish. Shiny looks too much like Ken as in Barbie's ex-boyfriend.

Me myself, I would say the shiny look, if its more of a wet shiny. Other wise matte, but it seems the matte sometimes tends to flake, if that makes sense.
