The Western Culture is very different from the Islamic Culture,
and thus, a western individual who is not familiar with Islam
can easily misunderstood the cultural differences. They can
only understand what they have heard, read and saw (when
many of those informations are biased and questionable),
and they understand those events of another culture in the
context of their own culture.

It is wrong to judge another culture's standards by using the
standards of one's own cultural background; however, such
judgements are much easier to be accepted by those who
judge and, by human nature they settled with such judgement.

May God Almighty smile upon you and your beloved ones,
and may your soul be blessed in peace.

Women and men are equal in Islam.

The honor killings is not Islam and many of the laws from the Sharia aren't Islamic either.

There will be a time when Muslim women will stand up for our rights given to us by God.
Western women weren't handed their equality. They fought for it.
We must do the same as well where Muslim women are being oppressed and mistreated.

To say that all Muslim women are oppressed is simply absurd.

I am not oppressed in any way.

You Are very right sister !! It always makes me laught when people say women is islam are opressed.........i wonder if they ever met any muslim woman before giving such statement!............quoting a biased media is easy but proving it is very difficult........they would definitely go to accept what the media would tell them but would never accept what many many muslim women telling them here and ofcourse we are not lying !....Sounds strange to me sometimes ! I m not opressed and i m proud muslim who is honourd by her family! and i can not imagine myself someone else other than a muslim becuase being a muslim woman is just a blessing( i can say this becuase i have experienced it)..........i wish our fellows who are always "worried" about us would underatnd it ....lol !

May Peace Be With You !

I am muslim girl. If ppl cant accept the fact that not every women in our religion is oppressed then that is their ignorance. I would suggest not to give too attention to it. How ever if you want to prove out then tell them that in cristainity they have got nuns who are head to toe covered and benedict nun who take oaths of silence for life. If one reads the history of cristanity one will see the cruelty that took place and how the women were treated.
So i suggest that you tell them to read their religion first and get knowledgeable and then comment about other ppls religion

Because most (note: not all) westerners believe that their way is the only way. If you don't follow western culture, belief, etc, you're automatically deemed as "incorrect" or "in the wrong."

Wearing your hijab has nothing to do with opression, it's part of a RELIGION! I wish people would stop meddling in others affairs and just stick to their own business.

I certainly don't think every Muslim is oppressed. I just don't like the stories of the extremist stuff, like family honor crimes, or that one recently where the girl and her niece we in a park and almost got raped, so they killed the guys or assaulted them or something like that, and the aunt was put on trial and almost sentenced to death. That is oppression. And it is sick. But the whole Muslim women are oppressed because they where the robe that covers everything, well I think hats dumb. If they are choosing to do it, then it isn't oppression. If they are forced to do it, then it is.

Not every muslim woman, some seem to embrace their position of inferiority under Muslim rule. But nonetheless that's what it is. They aren't equal by any stretch. It's interesting that in the places where Christianity is most influential, those countries have the most liberated women. eg USA, Canada, Australia, UK

First they TELL you that you are oppressed and that you should rise up and throw away islam and then they hand you a bible and say you are by nature evil so you need to accept Jesus into your life.
