Religion never asks for violence....it is just some idiots who use religions as an excuse for their acts!! Hitler , stalin and others non-muslims are called just violent and they are not given a tag of their religion....but if someone from muslim community would go for the same, people would love to mention their religion there!! sounds strange to me ! but anyways !! you are right, people greed for power is destroying this world not religion.....if we just concentrate on the motives of these so called religous people who claim to be working for the religion, they would ultimately running for the power...........but our general public is too innocent to understand this !
Peace Be With you !

People speak out of ignorance. People are people. Religion is one of the major roles in wars. It isn't the only one. Race, Creed, Religion, Society Norms, are just some of the causes of violence. The most violence in the world caused by any group, would be a falacy. I mean how can you prove who caused the most hurt? Many periods in history don't even have proper dictation. Does anyone know how many people the Khans killed, how about Alexander the Great? It is just people thinking in recent history about what current events are.
I belive that no answer can properly be given to your question to answer it. Greed is a factor, but it isn't the only one. Wars are started for so many diffrent reasons, to say its one, is kinda short changing all the others.

Determining who's killed more people between Christians and Muslims is an exercise in futility. Lets just say the numbers are in the millions, the killing has gone on for centuries, and the tally is growing larger everyday. Religion is just a tool used by leaders in order to control the masses and even start wars when necessary, much like the Republican party in the US. Read Machiavelli, the Prince, and you'll get the idea. A leader, according to him, does not need to be religious, he just needs to APPEAR to be religious so as to better manipulate the populace.

Most of the non-islamic population in the world are ignorant
of what Islam teaches as well as what is actually meant to be
a muslim. Under such ignorances, ideas and theories were
given without verifications that, eventually those words are
accepted as thr truth about Islam.
Sometimes people rather blame than listen when the latter
is what they claim to be performing. Islam is just a belief
amongst many other beliefs in the world. Islam is NOT the
cause of the violence in this world, but rather, humanity itself
is THE Cause.
If shall we are here to blame Islam for everything or anything
in relation to the violence in the world, then Islam cannot be
blamed alone:
Christianity vs. Islam = Violence (Christians here also are at
faults when Christianity preached tolerance and love.)
Christianity vs. Paganism = Violence (Same as above.)
Christianity vs. Atheism = Violence (Same as above.)
Christianity vs. Christianity = Violence (Sectorian fights and
wars.)
Thus, who is to claim Islam is the fault for all the blames? It
is too easy to blame another when the fault is also shared by
one's own self. To end a violence, one must start the peace
by giving it to other people, and not demanding it from others.
Peace and God Bless.

There are many causes of violence, claiming to know the truth whether it be political or religious is a very powerful one.
And I don't think I have seen anyone claim that Islam HAS caused the most violence in the world in the past, it is the present most of us are worried about.

You need to hit the history books and read up on the history of the spread of Islam. The famous historian Will Durant, in a volume of his encyclopedic work on the history of civilization, stated that "the Muslim conquest of India was probably one of the bloodiest chapters in human history". No, Islam is not the only cause that's spawned a lot of killing, but like communism in the 20th century, it's been glossed over and minimized by modern-day commentators. It's estimated that over 100 million people were killed in the twentieth century in the name of communism. Probably as many were killed over the centuries from 632 A.D. to the present day in the name of Islam. But you won't hear to many people talking about either one.

I suppose it would make you happy if people said Islam has caused the most violence in the world after Hitler and Stalin.
OK, I've said it.
One important difference is that Hitler and Stalin are dead, but Islam continues to increase its threat.

Who cares about the numbers?
We are not comparing historical events for justification of any one thing over another here, we are looking at what is actually going on under our very noses TODAY.
Islam, without doubt, is today's most destructive and violent religion we are cursed with.
Those who protest at that and claim that it is a religion of peace should do more than trade words with me but get out there and trade words with those idiots who are murdering innocent people in the name of a religion or even, believe it, in the name of a slight difference in the same religion.
Anyone can bleat about islam being wonderful IF they are not living in tribal Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Ethiopia, Iran, Somalia and, of course, Baghdad.
Don't complain from your safe havens in the west, go and live in Kandahar and, better still, be a woman there.
Then, do your bit to end this senseless devotion to a fictitious god and the destruction and murder that goes with it.
We atheists are getting pretty fed up with religion in general and islam in particular.
For evidence of what is REALLY going on, see
www.prophetmohammed.co.uk and, in particular, see the imams in the mosques on video.
Be aware, people. Islam is out to get you. By that I mean 'out to kill you' and destroy your way of life.

It's true that the most inhumane and barbaric political systems have been atheistic. Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, Mao etc. but in a religious context, all but ONE of the wars due to religion in the world today have a Muslim context. Not hindu, buddhist, christian, sikh etc. The crusades were a catholic endeavour, not a christian one.
