I have been laying in this bed trying to sleep since 1 am. I can't sleep and this isn't the first time its happened. I happens like twice a week and I'm tired of it. How can I stop the insomnia..and I would never take sleeping pills, I'm scared I would get addicted or something.

It may be that your mind is racing, that can keep you up no matter how tired you are. Try to calm your mind as best you can. Also its good to not stay in bed for more than 30-45 minutes. If youre not getting to sleep, get up, get a glass of water, read something for 10 minutes or so and then get back to bed.

Good luck.

Make certain your room is darkish. Have the temperature in there relatively cool. Don't learn or watch TV in mattress- doing so tells your frame it's time to keep up and alert vs. going to sleep. Nothing with caffeine three-four hours earlier than mattress. No exercise, TV or video video games two-three hours earlier than mattress. If after laying in mattress 20 minutes. w/o napping, get away from bed and perform a little gentle studying for ten mins then take a look at once more. Good good fortune- and take a look at to fall asleep whilst every day, it is going to support your frame get into a nap sample.

I guess you've missed the bus tonight, but in future, if you cant sleep, get out of bed, and do something else till you're tired again. Perhaps a warm bath, write a letter, TV, etc. You are supposed to not watch TV in bed, as bed is only for sleep, then when you are tired, try bed again. Sorry about tonight, I'de just get up and start the day.

There is nothing you can do tonight it's too late. In the future try some relaxation exercises. Don't try and sleep with the T.V on. Try to go to bed at the same time every night. You can try over the counter melatonin, natural hormone your own body produces. I've tried it before and it worked for me. You won't get addicted to it either.

before you sleep well maybe 6 or 5 hours per se exercise ...you will be tired which results in drowsy eyes..and sleep..but about your situation dont sleep no point sleeping now cause if you sleep now by the time you wake you feel like you need more sleep then your bed is like a magnet...what you do is try to be awake for the rest of your activities....just hold on and as soon as you come back your bound to sleep as you are super tired...

Go to Dunkin Donuts first thing and grab a large coffee. Pack coffe with you so you can make it at work. If theres a tea place near by order something with Mate in it (it contains matine which is similar to caffeine) and have lots of water too. Also, try to make little goals during the day to keep you occupied. Turn trying to stay awake into a game.

I would give up for the night. Go take a shower and make some strong coffee. Stop at the store on your way to work and get some no-doz. Two of them is like drinking 2-3 cups of coffee. Also pick up some Tylenol PM. There is nothing in it that will hurt you. All that is in it is regular Tylenol and Benedryl. My OB/GYN even told me I could take it while pregnant.

W-A-T-E-R. Plain and simple. Most insomnia is caused by dehydration and the body is in survival mode to forage for water. O course there is the good old "Mom's remedy" of warm milk. That comes from the calcium school of thought. When the calcium is absorbed by the body the lactic acid will fatigue the body mildly and allow you to fall asleep.

For tonight just dump the idea. I had a friend who went to a sleep clinic and they told her every night to go to bed at 12am and wake up the same time every day. 7.30am. They told her if she wakes up in the night to get up and get out of bed and go sit in a quiet completly dark room, doing absolutely nothing not matter if she could stand it or not. Eventually she told me after sticking to this she sleeps a full 6 hours every nice with no interruptions.

I've read about a CD that you can put on where someone talks about sleep, and what is going on in your brain when you're entering sleep.

If you listen to this it apparently keeps your mind from wandering at night and keeps you focused on sleep.

I'm not positive if this is the same thing I'm talking about above, but the reviews are good and it seems similar.
