The Brilliant Man AHMED DEEDAT ASKED A CHRISTIAN PRIEST A QUESTION BASED ON THE ABOVE VERSES.

The Priest answered:

CHOICE FOR HIS DAUGHTER

"Between these two versions of the birth of Jesus (pbuh) - the Quranic version and the Biblical version - which would you prefer to give your daughter?" I asked the supervisor of the Bible House. He bowed his head down in humility and admitted - "THE QURANIC VERSION." How can "a forgery" or "an imitation" (as it is alleged of the Quran) be better than the genuine, the original (as it is claimed for the Bible)? It can never be, unless this Revelation to Muhummed (pbuh) is what it, itself, claims to be viz. the pure and holy Word of God! There are a hundred different tests that the unprejudiced seeker after truth can apply to the Holy Quran and it will qualify with flying colours to being a Message from on High

"Which would you prefer to give to your daughter"? That's irrelevant. The real question is which one is true. I would take the bible over the Koran any day especially when it talks about Jesus. The fact is, the people who wrote the gospels were what historians called primary and secondary source evidence. They were either eyewitnesses or they got it from an eyewitness. The Koran came 600 years later and the Koran quite often contradicts the bible. If you and I went to a New York Yankee baseball game between the yankees and the Boston Red Sox and the Yankees won 6-5 and then after the game we got together and wrote an article about that game and the New York Times decided to print it and then 600 years later, in the year 2600 somebody went to the New York Times archives and read our article and said "wait a minute, the Yankees didn't win that game, actually the red sox won 10-7", most people would say that the guy in 2600 is in no position to question what you and I said since we were at the game and were eyewitnesses.
You take the crucifiction of Christ. The bible says Christ was crucified. That's consistent throughout the New Testament. The new testament manuscripts are reliable. We have over 5700 greek manuscripts in existence. A large portion of them came before 600-650AD when the Koran was written. This makes the bible the best textually supported book from antiquity. Many of those manuscripts were written very early.
The John Rylands Papyri of the book of John(or parts of it) is dated 117-138. That's 20 to 60 years after the original Book of John was written(depending upon where you date the book of John).
Also, non-christian historians from the 1st and 2nd centuries recorded the death of Christ:1)Josephus(37-100AD) 2)Cornelius Tacitus(55-117AD) 3)Thallus(52AD) 4)Lucian(2nd century) 5)The letter of Mara Ben-Serapion(73AD) 6)The Babylonian Talmud says Christ was killed on the eve of passover7)Phlegon a Roman writer mentions it too.
Also, the earliest christian writers after the time of Christ affirmed his death on the cross. Polycarp(2nd century), who was a disciple of John and so He got it from an eyewitness,
repeatedly affirmed the death of Christ on the cross. Ignatius(110AD) who was a friend of Polycarp also affirmed the crucifiction. Justin Martyr(100-165AD) also affirmed the crucifiction.. If you take all the Bishops and Elders and and christian leaders who wrote before the time of the Koran in the 600's there are literally tens of thousands of references to the crucifiction of Christ.
Generally speaking secular historians from ancient times right up to today agree that Christ died on a cross. Secular historians may not accept the ressurrection of Christ because that was a miracle and seculars don't believe in miracles but they all generally accept the crucifiction. Christs death is a historical fact.
What does the Koran say about the crucifiction. It says it didn't happen. It says Allah got someone to take Christs place on the cross and made him look just like Christ, so much so that His own mother(mary) didn't realize that it wasn't really Christ. While this other person was crucified, Allah brought Christ to heaven. For 600 years everyone thought Christ had been crucified. For 600 years everyone was deceived. The early christian writers were all wrong. The historians were all wrong. Then 600 years later Allah decides to reveal the truth. He tells Muhammad what really happened through the angel Gabriel. How do we know all this? MUHAMMAD SAYS SO!
On any verse, I would take the Bible over the Koran because the bible was written about 600 years earlier. It's much closer to the actual events and therefore much more reliable. Who cares about "THE BRILLIANT" Deedat and his encounter with the christian priest(whom you don't even identify).
I'd love to discuss this with you further but you don't have an e-mail addres on your profile. VERY CONVENIENT! So I guess you'll get the last word on this one.

this is a query of having better translations from the Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew (New testomony besides - no longer too helpful relating to the previous testomony) to English. In King James' day, information of the languages exchange into exceptionally constrained and students have been attempting to ideal the accuracy of the translations as properly as make it greater available for us usual joes. The Quran on the different had is written and consider, for the main section, interior the comparable language, Arabic. such as the Torah. All practioners of the three are popular as human beings of the e book. in actuality the Quran recognises all the prophets interior the Torah and interior the Bible, Muhammed is considered the final and actual prophet sent from God/Allah. All 3 have had and proceed to have the "which ability" revised by employing the rabbi, iman or preacher, or pupils of the actual textual content fabric. there is extremely extremely some scholarship and assertion with regards to all 3. the factor right here, in spite of what others have reported, is those texts are meant to be classes to accelerated spirituality (which I define as non secular expertise of God and guy's place interior the scheme of issues). i think of that no remember what call you provide God or what non secular traditions you prepare, what's significant isn't any remember in case you stick to the main difficulty-unfastened tenants of existence: a million) love God including your coronary heart, techniques, physique and soul and 2)love your neighbor as you do your self. each little thing else will flow from that. good success

What you said makes no sense. The Bible is the truth. Mary had a choice. She could have said no. And in your version it suggest that Allah created Jesus. In the Bible Jesus was conceived as a human. He was not created as Adam was. And no priest would say that the Quran was better.

Your are graping at straws.

'Better' is a personal viewpoint and is totally unrelated to the origin and truth about a document. The bible were written for all people and if God decided to give His word in a certain matter He had His reasons and trying to understand it might just prove impossible as we will never have the insight He has.

why does it matter, the point of Jesus is to be our Saviour, what he did is the important thing, fine you think He is human, even then, it is important to believe on Him as our Savior, Through Him we are saved, he is the first to overcome Death, did Mohamed overcome death?? where is Jesus's tomb today, Empty.. I think that's the important thing, who is right and wrong we will see in the end, but no need to dispute over it.. just like the christian crusades were useless.. this debate is as well, Yes there is Only ONE God, Allah, Yahweh, Lord, it's all the same.. But only through Christ will one be saved.. according to the bible..

Anyone can pick a verse from this book and one from the next..and make anything out of it they want. Without looking at all things pertaining the the setting etc and why it was said and to whom..it is so easy to go "Aha" and make things look anyway they want. Quite frankly too many want to look at someone elses beliefs and find all the splinters but do not want to go look at the logs in their own..and that goes for all people as well.
