The Apostle who betrayed his Divine Master. The name Judas (Ioudas) is the Greek form of Judah (Hebrew "praised"), a proper name frequently found both in the Old and the New Testament. Even among the Twelve there were two that bore the name, and for this reason it is usually associated with the surname Iscariot [Hebrew "a man of Kerioth" or Carioth, which is a city of Judah (cf. Joshua 15:25)]. There can be no doubt that this is the right interpretation of the name, though the true origin is obscured in the Greek spelling, and, as might be expected, other derivations have been suggested (e.g. from Issachar).

cut and pasted. i had to. lol ;)

No.

There is no evidence that Judas was the brother of Jesus.

However, by the name "iscariot", it is almost certain Judas was a member of the sicarii, zealots or the "dagger assassins"- infamous across the ancient Middle East as the fiercest of warriors.

Their central HQ was Galilee and controlled by Judas of Galillee- so it is possible that Judas Iscariot was the son of this famous warrior.

Nazara, the home town of Jesus built by his father Joseph "the Carpenter" was smack in the middle of this region and is why the holy family were so well protected.

No. History channel or National Geographic channel recently showed a documentary on the gnostic "Gospel of Judas", which portrays Judas not as a traitor, but as one who was chosen by Jesus to do the deed in order to fulfill God's plan of salvation. Judas didn't want to do it; but complied out of obedience and love.

I'm not sure whether Jesus had a brother named Judas. Better if you could find for us a passage in the Bible that says "...Judas, the son of Joseph..."

Back in the anicent times, people seldom have surnames; they are called by their father's names, like what I have stated earlier.

No, Christ's brother and the Judas who betrayed Jesus are diferent from each other.

You should have stopped with your first part of question.

but by asking the second part shows that you are immatured and wanted to show your vengence and aggression agains Christianity as it happens with lots of people here.

Second thing to your notice, Christianity is not a religion but it is the way of life , way to life eternal.

Actually Judas was Jesus' SISTER, but the catholic/protestant churches had a problem with her gender, her name was Judy and not Judas but it was changed because the church didnt want to be any more chavanistic than it already was.

Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and he came to earth so that he could die, enter into hell, and take on the sins of the world so that all who choose to have him as their savior may find salvation. God says that no man may enter into heaven except thorough his Son Jesus Christ. So you can't get their by killing any one, That is against his commandments, you can't get their on your own. You need to accept Jesus Christ as your Personal Savior and you are in. When you confess your sins and ask for forgiveness.
