I seem to have developed a small reddish brown spot on my chest. It looks a lot like a birthmark, but it just showed up. It's about 1 cm wide, and 2 cm tall. It has irregular borders and is completely flat, doesnt itch, is not dry... ???

I probably should've added that I'm a redhead with obviously really fair skin. And TONS of freckles... which makes me wonder if it could be just a random really large freckle... but its in a spot where I dont have any freckles.

Oh, and yes, I'm aware that it's called a BIRTHmark because you get it at birth... but there are other things that it could be and it was the easiest way to explain what it looks like... hence the quotations around 'birthmark' lol.

Not to worry, i think it is just an accidental mark. If it doesn't go off by itself in 2-4 weeks times, i think it is best for you to consult a dermatolgist to access your problem.

maybe you should see a doctor about that, it might be cancerous or something. And if you don't like it than you can probably get it removed. I think it might be from too much sun, probably not a birthmark.

hi,, i find birthmarks to be soooo cute specially on the chest... but if you already have one elsewhere, this is new to me that another one will show up.... i would have your doctor take a look. it might be a start of something else like a big mole.

probably an hemangioma which is a benign vascular lesion that looks like a reddish or purple birth mark. See a dermatologist to find out for sure what it is.

See the dermatologist. Make sure it is not a serious problem.
