This is not meant as an 'anti religion' question, it's just it has always been something that no-one can tell me.

The bible also doesn't mention dodos and unicorns, that doesn't mean they didn't exist.

Because the 'New Testament' part of the Bible was written (and based) two thousand years ago, when there were no dinosaurs, and the 'Old Testament' was based on a much more ancient time when man wasn't around to SEE dinosaurs.

Seeing how Man was never around at the same time as dinosaurs, it seems painfully obvious to me that that's why there's no mention of them in the Bible.

And, coincidentally, the Old Testament was probably conceived and originally written at about the same time as the New one.

Each to everyone's own, but it really is a bit daft that we have put men into space and strolled the moon yet it is still common practice to debate on whether or not our planet was made my a man in the sky. You can probably guess that my opinions on Creationists are pretty low.

Some posters have claimed that Behemoth and Leviathan refer to dinosaurs. However:

Behemoth is described as having a navel: dinosaurs did not have navels, as they hatched from eggs. Navels are only found in mammals.

Leviathan is described as being a sea monster: dinosaurs were almost exclusively land animals.

The answer to the question is that, even if God does exist, and did make the universe, there's no reason to assume that he had anything at all to do with the writing of the bible.

The bible described many animals and beasts, like leviathan, behemoth, and dragons, that could very well have been dinosaurs.

However, the Bible didn't mention a lot of animals specifically. Even most books on zoology don't mention every kind of animal.

The Bible also does not mention the duck-billed platypus, kangaroos, house cats, zebras, giraffes, etc.

Wolves, bears, lions, and other animals are mentioned. Only the King James Version mentions unicorns, as they were not sure of the correct translation for that animal. All other versions use the term wild ox.

The they-didnt-mention-this-specific-animal arguement is weak.

The dinosaurs were not just a few animals worth a few words, they were an entire fauna that lasted for over 100 million years - far longer than humans have lasted for, even now.

The reason they were not mentined is that the person (or people) who wrote the bible didnt know that dinosaurs ever existed.

The reason no one can tell you is because they don't study their Bibles. If you were to go to the Book of Job, there you will find out about the behemoths.

Every question you can conceive is answerable in the Word of God.

There is mentioned in the Gospels of Peter of the three Heaven/World Ages.

In the first, there you would find the dinosaurs and all the first earth age creatures. They are gone now and we are living in the second earth age. There is the third coming very soon. this is when our Saviour returns. Jesus Christ.

Need to get into the Word of God before it is too late.><>

There are a lot of animals not mentioned in the bible, but that doesn't mean they didn't exist. There was a period of time between the heaven, earth, and animals when man did not live on the earth. Could this have possibly been the period when the dinosaurs existed?

God did create the universe and the reason why the bible doesnt mention the exsistance of dinosaurs its because it was way after the bible days. and besides dinosaurs dont have anything to do with the bible anyway.

In the Book of Job, it talks about God killing the sea monster Leviathan. Leviathan sounds like a dinosaur. You may want to check that out.

There is mention of him making all kinds of animals.

I don't think gerbils are mentioned in the Bible except for a small passage in Genesis where it says something about how God created creatures that came out at night. :)

No mention of the dinosaurs in the Bible? The writers had no way to know that the dinosaurs lived and died long before them.
