Depends what and why you want to know. County courthouse will have records on a conviction, usually. If this is someone you are writing to as a pen pal, they're probably scamming you and have a bunch of people they're writing to and you should stop. If this is someone you already know and they're in jail, then the courthouse can tell you, or the DA's office.

You can call the jail and ask, they will tell you if that personis there, charges and or bond amount. If he is inmate, they will also tell you that, that is public information. Or you can go in person and do the same thing.
