Interesting how we humans can get offended bu the idea of other people making decisions for us(Exp Communism) but when we think that other people are wrong they must be forced to change.
God gives everybody a choice to become what you want to be. The reason He created us is because he wanted fellowship(friendship) and their can never be a friendship if you are controlled and not doing it out of free will.
I think God allows satan to exists to give us the opportunity to choose so that He knows the friendship is true and not because there were no other alternative.
- Think about it: If you were the only guy in the world how would you ever know if the girl would have chosen you if circumstances where different -

Freewill... Satan also had freewill and chose to turn against God. To turn Satan "good" would mean that God would have to bend to Satan's will. Instead, God's plan includes turning all bad consequences into good outcomes.
Because we do not understand His plan, we can neither question nor understand it but merely accept that He will do as He has promised... By accepting God and turning from evil, we have been promised eternal life.
People forget that there are negative consequences when they act against God. If there was no freewill, then you wouldn't have the choice to believe or not. He is not forcing you to love him.

Because we all have our free agency even the losers out there! And if satan was good than there would be no conflict and none of us would have the power to choose anything. We wouldn't have to choose right form wrong, becuase everything woudl always be "right". It sucks that so many of us make wrong decisions, but it would be worse if we were all robots who decisions were made for us. It's a double edge sword!

God gave free will to all other creations except for Angels, to just turn any creation good or evil would be reniging on his gift, and God being well God, wouldn't do that.
It was because of his free will that he was able to rebel against God in the first place.

If you would read and study the Bible, you could learn the answer. Satan wants to BE GOD! It not just a question of good and evil. The prophecies of the Bible will be fulfilled in the end days. After the Millennium Reign, Satan will be loosed for a season, to tempt those that lived and are born during the millennial reign. He will then be thrown into the Lake Of Fire for eternity for his Disobedience to GOD!

Because God gave us all free will. It is Satan's choice to be evil. God does not force anyone to follow Him.

Apparently he wants the story to end the way he said it would end. That'll show us who's God. What a party pooper, giving away the ending like that.

without evil, good does not exist. they are the two sides of the same coin.
the god Jehovah needs Satin to define his own existance. or rather, in order for there to be a god that encompassed all that was good, we needed to create one that encompassed all evil.

better yet, if he's all powerful, why would he ever do anything? The God-Satan chess match makes people feel special, period.
