I don't see your point. There is no cover-up, no conspiracy - just ignorance. Early Christianity made no pretense at being anything other than a pagan religion. I have no problem with that - in fact, as a Christian, I study ancient paganism the same way any other Christian would study ancient Judaism.
It is amazing to me that people consider this information controversial. Anyone who has studied Greek philosophy, read the Church fathers, or studied the New Testament will clearly see that there is no distinction between Christianity and paganism- the Bible actually says as much, multiple times, for God's sake! The Apostle Paul repeatedly emphasizes the validity of Hellenistic paganism alongside Christianity, and explicitly identifies Christianity as a pagan Mystery religion. The Apostle John draws constant parallels between Christ and the Mysteries of Eleusis.
The problem is not some vast repression - the problem is that the modern educational system has dropped Greek, Latin, ancient history, theology, philosophy, mythology, and ancient literature from the curriculum. A century or two ago the connections between paganism and Christianity were common knowledge. Read, for example, Pike, Hall, Blavatsky, etc. I have a copy of the Expositor's Greek New Testament, published in the early 20th century, that includes all of the 'pagan' elements in the commentary.

actually paganism is not a religious thing although we have made it to be a religious thing. Pagans were people who did not believe in christianity, islam, or judaism...and lived off the land. We are the ones who have given it a connotation to mean they are wiccan, or druid, or what have you.....but here's the thing when christianity was brought to the west it was easiest to turn what was already being practiced into something to glorify God. During winter solstice many non-christians were celebrating the coming of the 'sun' so Christians decided to make christmas in december to celebrate the coming of the 'Son' of God. God is not a dead god but is the living Lord and so why couldn't he take people where they were at and change them into something beautiful to his glory. We need to look at what we are doing today and my church today celebrates the birth of our saviour on christmas and the whole nativity. and Sunday is the proper day of worship because that is the day that the lord was resurrected and so is the Lord's day. The sabbath is on saturday and commemorates the day that God rested and made it Holy. The Jews practice keeping a holy sabbath by not working/lighting of fire/ etc. and many christians do too. the bible does talk about what keeping the sabbath means to getiles too. so continue blindly, or expose the darkness to light? before you try and bring your light you may want to understand why you think it is dark. As shown our modern society has changed what pagan means, our ignorance of jewish tradition and biblical meaning has made some people falsley believe that the Christian sabbath is on sunday which it clearly is not. (see second link) and the name of Jesus is the english version of Yeshua just like any other name in another language that has been translated into english. and to say that you have heard every justification and scripture quote means that you have stopped growing and your faith is dead.

Not only that, but....
"The wanton destruction of our Pagan heritage is the greatest tragedy in the history of the Western world. The scale of what was lost is hard to comprehend. Pagan mysticism and scientific enquiry were replaced by dogmatic authoritarianism. The Roman Church imposed its creed with threats and violence, denying generations of human beings the right to think their own thoughts and find their own personal route to spiritual salvation. Whilst the great literature of antiquity was being consigned to the flames, St Augustine announced the triumph of Literalist fundamentalism, writing: 'nothing is to be accepted except on the authority of scripture, since greater is that authority than all powers of the human mind'.
The ancients had built the pyramids and the Parthenon, but within a few hundred years of Christianity people in many areas of Europe had forgotten how to make brick houses.
In the first century BCE Posidonius had created a beautiful revolving model of the solar system which faithfully represented the orbits of the planets. By the end of the fourth century CE it was sacrilegious not to believe that God physically placed the stars in the heavens each night. In the third century BCE, the Alexandrian scholar Eratosthenes had correctly calculated the circumference of the Earth to within a few percent, but now it had become a heresy not to believe that the Earth was flat. If Paganism was so primitive, and Literalist Christianity is the one true religion, why was Pagan civilisation replaced by the 1,000 years we appropriately call 'the Dark Ages'? "

Wow there was a smart answer from idiot above who says Pagan=FTW, due to the fact that most pagans love the world for every ounce of life in it:
Christmas Tree?? NOPE! Yule Tree, an exposure to nature from the Pagans to show it that even though they have lost their leaves and gone bare, they are still beautiful in our eyes, thus we decorate the tree next to a window that lets nature see it and celebrate the day! The church steals it to direct attention off of the original!
Easter?? NOPE! Ostara, being the day that celebrates new life to the world, the Bunny to represent animals born whole, and the egg to represent those that are hatched. The church steals it and makes it a joke of an egg laying Rabbit!
Halloween?? NOPE, Samhain, the day that candles are lit in the windows to let our past on loved ones find their way back to join the living in a feast! NOT to run around with masks on saying "Trick or Treat" which that was created by the church, because during the time of Samhain, there was people who would hide in the woods, dressed as the dead, and would jump out at carriages going down the trails, just to rob them of their goods, hence the reason, trick or treaters wear masks and then when you answer your door, you give them your goods (substituted to goodies or candy)!

Of course there are Pagan influences that aren't readily known. Paganism was the religion of the state during the time that Christianity became popular. Many that converted continued with Pagan symbolism, i.e., the use of peacock feathers in Christian frescoes painted in the catacombs represents the many eyes of Hera.
As to your question, it's a matter of faith.

I call Him Emmanual, & worship on the Sabbath
"......But to maintain good standing in the church adherents must accept the authority of E.G. White, this is one of the "works of the SDA tradition"......."
I happen to be a SDA, & trust me you don't have to believe In EGW or her writings.
EGW did state that her writing should NEVER replace the bible & should ALWAYS be tested against the scripture. never once did she BELIEVE that she was a prophet, just someone that God had a good relationship with. (one that each & everyone of us can have, should we so desire)
".......The Scripture is defined and understood through the traditions of the churches. However Paul taught that Mashiyach and His Word, the Torah, are the ultimate authority that we should follow, not tradition........"
This is true & as an SDA I go through & see what God says (and don't take it on blind faith or tradition) It is helpful to read where the faith/practice came into being. and the why.

I never understood how people "know" Jesus Aramaic/Hebrew name was Yeshua.
Since we do not have any very old copies of the Gospels in Aramaic who is to say that Jesus birth name was not Yeoshua (Joshua) Hoshea, or Yosef (Josef) or any variant along these lines.
If anyone can explain how we know for sure that Jesus birth name was Yeshua I would be interested.

Good grief. The second someone start bashing my religion, I close my eyes and plug my ears. I don't want to hear you.
What does it say of a person who's so interested in destroying a persons religion? You're obviously interested in some outcome...right? What is that outcome? What are your goals in bringing about the destruction of the Christian religion?
You have none other than your own ideals that you set up for yourself. You are a religion unto yourself to bring about your own means of happiness without regard to a higher law.
Best of luck to ya.
Pagan as you say it(a cuss word maybe) is not so bad. Pagan is tradition. My religion makes heavy use of it in ceremonies to bring about the express purpose of bonding people together, increasing the desire to love one another, and to server one another. So yes in a way my religion(the one I'm a follower of) is pagan.

'Christians' these days have pretty thick skin... you could tell them they were worshipping Satan (with ample proof to back it up) and they'd just shrug you off and offer to pray for you (cuz they don't want you to go to Hell).
I'm aware of the point you're trying to make (and I didn't even look at the links), but I think you're barking up the wrong tree here. Look at some the previous answers...
