That all depends on the type of MS and the type of med. My sister is an oncology nurse and has MS. She was diagnosed 2.5 years ago. Her med(don't know the name, sorry, but it is a shot that needs to be refrigerated) makes her nauscious, lethargic, and causes pain at the site of injection. Pain at injection site isn't typical. They thought she was developing anti-bodies to it, but she wasn't.That's what is does TO you, what is does FOR you is decrease plaque development/and breakdown of the myelin sheath in your brain tissue. I would take pain and lethargy over brain damage anyday, but I do not have MS so my opinion is just that, my opinion.
There are millions of people with MS (unfortunately), try www.MSSociety.org or google "ms meds"
Did you know the MS Society donates more of a percentage of its total donations than any other non-profit organization?

Hello
The four medications for Relapsing-Remitting MS (Avonex, Betaseron, Copaxone, and Rebif) are all designed to do several things:
- reduce the number of active lesions on the brain
- reduce the severity of relapses
- shorten the duration of relapses
- slow the progression of the disease. Left untreated, 50% of RRMS patients will progress to Secondary-Progressive MS within 10 years. The medications hope to extend that time.
