Kay this might seem a little...odd, but I read online, about a mother's breasts being tight when full of milk,(It was in a fanfiction, don't ask). Is that true, or does it feel heavy, sore, tight or a mix of the 3?

(writer's question only).

It's called being "engorged." This happens when a baby needs to be feed, the milk fills the breast to a point that makes it feel tight and sore. Once you fee the child, the tight sensation goes away.

My breasts only felt hard and sore when I woke in the morning (and my child had started to sleep through the night)... the soreness would actually wake me from sleep and I would go into the nursery to breastfeed the baby right away. Otherwise, my baby was nursing so frequently during the day that they never got that hard, heavy feeling.

So, in answer to your question, it depends on how often your baby nurses. I longer stretch of time means more collection of milk. Sometimes you have to pump a little excess off so the baby can latch on properly.

All three! When i had my daughter and my milk came in over night i went up like 2 cup sizes! but that's what breasts are for! Nursing easies the heaviness soreness and tightness!

when u say tight it makes me think of tightly pulled skin like when u have a sunburn and sometimes yes it feels like that. and then other times u look down at your new girls and go whoa im pretty hot :-) and then still other times when u just want some release b/c theyre engorged and swollen, and yes heavy, and they hurt so bad. and all u really want todo is stand in the shower so the milk will come down but that just stimulates the creation of more milk. its quite a conundrum. but youre so wiped out from sleep deprivation with a new baby that u wont even notice. :-) so yeah id say sometimes all 3 but sometimes just one or the other-painful either way :-)

when full yes.. the breast is tight.. and the mother will get a tingly sensation when the milk 'let down' occurs.. they aren't really sore unless you don't nurse (unless it's when your milk first comes in ... then that hurts!) soon...

Mine never were...although from the sixth month of pregnancy on, during both of my pregnancies, a little milk would occasionally leak from them.

I believe it's a mix of the three.Often there's also leakage if you don't relieve the tension by breastfeeding or using a pump.

All of the 3. If you breast feed though it will go away
