Jesus was God incarnate, while Paul was human. a lot of us relate to Paul because he was human.
while Jesus spoke what God's will for us is.
Paul let his human side into his teachings. and even though Paul was inspired by God, some of his teachings were Paul's.

Saul (aka Paul) persecuted the Christians heavilly before Christ revealed himself to him. Once he recognized what God's will was, he quickly changed his ways and got on the other side of the persecution stick. (Acts 8:1, 3; 9:3-25; 2 Co 11:23-28)

He was inspired to write quite a few books that make up the Christian Greek (aka "New Testament") so it's not surprising that a lot of people talk so much about Paul; that doesn't mean that the works the other apostles did meant less to Christianity.

At the same time, there's no real reason not to trust Paul; he was inspired to write to Timothy that "...all Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work " (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Rom 15:4; 2 Pet 1:21)

Note that it says "All Scripture is...beneficial", not just one or two books. As Christians we are obliged then to look at all the books of the Bible to learn the truth about God. Do more research to truly see what Paul was really like; you'll agree that Christ chose someone worthy for us to emulate.

It reminds me of when I was a new Christian by what you say. I didn't trust Paul either. But after studying Paul for a while, I found that he had it down better than any of the other Apostles. You see, Paul had training that many did not have, and if he was the one who wrote Hebrews, or dictated it, then he definitely had something that the others didn't have.

And then there is the issue of James. Paul seemed to be the only one who eventually stood up to James. James being a legalist, attempted to bring Christianity under the foot of Judaism. Paul, though having tendencies to listen to James ( Acts 15, 21 ) . Eventually, Paul turned away from the Judaizers. And wrote letters concerning standing against the Judaizers, the most notable work being Galatians.

So please, give Paul a break. He wasn't on until after Pentecost, so he wasn't there. But he did get special attention by God. As you will find out as you read Acts.

People like Paul so much because God used him to reveal more of His will for us (Eph. 3:8-9). Through Paul God revealed timeless truths of life and applied it to our lives in every sphere--in the home, workplace, the gathering of believers, and in the world.

When you follow what Paul has written, you'll find God Himself following through and blessing you. Then you'll lay your feelings aside and follow by faith in God's word. Many of us follow our hearts and found only confusion. That's why the Bible says to follow God with all your heart (Prov. 3:5-6), not to follow your heart with all your heart (Prov. 28:26).

Be careful not to follow your feelings about Matthew or other sections of the Bible. Feelings will change. What then? Matthew will no longer be true and dependable? If you live by your feelings, you will not have an anchor. The Christian's anchor is God's word. When my feelings change, I can always return to the Bible to find stability again.

God sends many messengers, ones that don't appeal to you appeal to others, it all boils down to the same message.
God sent many messengers to me and I shot them down one right after another until finally he sent one I would listen to, I had to learn to not shoot the messenger. Paul appeals to me the most so please don't shoot the messenger.
