I was shocked. Cro Cop being my main man, i had to walk out of the room i couldent bare the to watch all the replays.
He was out for like 1 - 2 min lying there... it looked so serious. The kick that GG landed was so powerful he stepped into it and everything. And at first i dident notice the leg/ankle twist, once i saw that wanted to cry... lol. It was a bad day for Cro cop hopfully he can recover and get a belt in the UFC. But ya defienatley top 3 for worst KO.

I've seen worst. Back in the day UFC 8 or 9, 2 words. TANK ABBOTT! He punched some guy with an over-hand right & that poor dude literally folded up like an orchordian right up against the cage & started convulsing right there. Tank walked away & kinda did a Frankenstein shake with his arms out & smiling at the same time. That was the worst KO I ever saw, but Gonzaga's is definately worthy of top 5 status if not top 3 because of the way Mirko folded up after impact!
Also another brutal KO was the head kick Rashad Evans did on Sean Salmon at UFC Fight Night 8. Everyone that saw that fight didn't give a damn that Rashad even won, all people could talk about was is that kid going to be fine or what!? That KO is top 5 most brutal.
The last KO worthy of top 5 mentioning was Rich Franklin's KO of Nate Quarry at UFC 56. The way Rich popped him on the jaw & the way Nate just went limp on his feet & fell backwards with his hands stuck to his side, you knew he was f@cked up & back injury or not, Nate hasn't stepped foot into a ring or cage since & after that KO who can really blame him!?

The only knockout that I can recall that looked close to this bad in MMA was Tank's knockout of Eugene Jackson, I think. It isn't listed on his Sherdog profile, but it was the match where the guy got caught with a Tank uppercut and he was knocked out against the fence. Just like this one, he looked like he was dead. This is the worst in my opinion because we all know that Mirko is a great fighter.
Mirko just didn't look like he was in the fight from the start. Maybe he was ill or just having a bad day. One of the first things a kick-boxer learns (in my experience) is to keep the wrist covering the temple at all times, aka "talking on the phone". It was confusing that Mirko dropped his right arm as maybe he thought the kick was going for the ribs. But, much better to take a rib shot than a perfect bone to the temple. Honestly, I thought he might be dead and I wasn't the only one.
This was a brutal knockout. Mirko was unconscious before he hit the floor, ankle hyper-extended under his twisted knee. It was brutal and I hope he can recover.

I have to saythis Ko was in my top 5 but I still think the Tank Abott Ko of Steve Nelmark was more brutalm Nelmark crumpled and his head was resting backways on his feet or when Tank beat Jon Matua and left him twitching frozen with hsi feet in the air, and the Edwards KO with teh flying spinning kick was up there as well. I would rank the Gonzaga Ko as third after the two Tank KOs.

I don't think its the most brutal KO ever, but it was crazy. I felt the same way you did when I saw it. He almost kicked his head right off! And I thought for sure his leg or ankle was broken. I was amazed that he got up and did the interview. If you go to youtube or other sights like that, you can watch tons of UFC knockouts, many of them just as brutal as last night, maybe even more brutal.

It was indeed a bad night for Cro Cop. I am sure you are right when you say the intelligent Mirko will definitely learn from his fight and come back better than ever.
I think Cro Cop made a mistake in thinking he was the only one could deliver a devistating kick, so he left himself open for the high kick that KOd him.
I am worried about the condition of the ligaments in Mirko Cro Cop's knee and especially his ankle. I am sure that in the very least he suffered a very bad sprain to his ankle. At worst, he may have torn ligaments in his knee and ankle requiring surgery. This would mean months of rehab, so lets hope it is not the case.

Yep, it is up there. Because of the skill of Cro cop, this rates as one of the greatest/brutal kos ever. A fighter getting knocked out in their first big show is not uncommon. The earlier answer about Tank Abbot is a good example. He had equally as brutal kos, but against mismatched opponents.

individually,i think of there are various human beings whose undesirable deeds have in no way been punished, have lived long lives and perhaps are basically punished with the aid of their very own experience of right and incorrect,in the event that they have morals. As a species, race,or usa i think of there is Karma in each and every thing we are,as a determination of imperfect persons making up a unmarried mass that has been born right into a worldwide the place residing off ecosystem employing god given strategies is starting to be extinct and money is the appropriate impression, karma will come around enormous time,at some point.

It was pretty brutal, when they showed the replay and you could see his leg all twisted underneath him I thought for minute that his head had been kicked right around backwards.
The only one that comes to mind as being equally brutal was the title match where the Spider took the belt from Rich Franklin and repositioned his nose over under his right eye in the process.

The hit was solid but I did not think it was going to put him away , I actually thought he was going to just roll with the blow but I was wrong, I believe fatigue played a pretty big role too. He looked tired which is why his rear guard was down allowing the kick in.
The leg folding like a chicken wing was sick. I felt that pain in my head( but I don't think he did 'cause he was out cold). There was also a mighty uppercut in a another fight I saw that same day. The name eludes me right now but the man receiving it was out cold, he went straight down like the proverbial sack of potatoes.
