I have the SOHC VG30e engine, with new water pump, timing belt and injectors and Warspeed Y-pipe. I like the old girl but at 150k miles on her and only 165 HP, she is very tame by todays standards. Nissan Quest 3.3 Liter motor sounds attractive swap. Is it worth the work? What is required? How much HP?

You're having a laugh aren't you. If your 1993 Nissan Maxima is still smoothly motoring... and you've just had loads of new (expensive) work done like water pump and timing belt...... why would you possibly want to have a new engine ?

So what if she isn't a mover and shaker in comparison to newer models... Nissan's can go 250,000 miles + so long as they get serviced at regular intervals and cared for. For the price of a new engine and the work/time/money for fitting, I seriously think you should be looking at getting a newer car.. but if the 93 is still going strongly... why get a new car and hit with load of instant 1000s in depreciation.

The 3.3 has lower compression but won't bend valves the oil filter is in the wrong place too. Save money and buy a "new girl" Have you driven a six speed 2003 Maxima? Even the new Maxima with CVT trans will out perform and get better gas mileage.

it is complicated to respond to, considering the fact which you may get a replace engine diverse approaches. additionally, in case you bypass to a broker or ASE qualified mechanic, the value on hard work will selection, to boot. call around community shops and ask for estimates, and that supply you a sturdy ballpark. In my adventure (that's limited), it is frequently greater value-effective to interchange the vehicle than an entire engine.
