Working on abs won't be as effective as doing cardio. To get rid of your stomach, try to do as much cardio as you can (you should be sweating. It's a sign that your body's working hard)
Try running/dancing/swimming/kickboxing/etc.
Working your abs would make your abs more visable

In all honesty i believe this is the hardest thing to lose... How long have you been working out? I didn't start to see results in my stomach until after a month or more. I bought one of those big stability balls and do tons of research for new exercises on it. I work out everyday for at least 45 Min's and of those 45 Min's i do at least 25 Min's of abs. (Start with less time though unless you can handle it) Oh yeah and always start with your abs.

Something that I've also been told is that you really need to do cardio to lose fat in those hard to work places. Getting your heart rate up and really going at it for 20 -30 Min's. just remember always be engaging your abs.

I didn't see results right away but kept working at it and it is starting to pay off!!! I also measure my self every two weeks. but not in the normal way... like i measure the biggest part of my stomach since that is what i really want to lose. so when i see anything lower then before it really motivates me!
Hope this helps!

contrary to popular belief, you can't "target" fat. you can target muscles in muscle-building, because building muscle involves tearing the fibers so they rebuild stronger, but fat is burned off evenly across the body. so to get rid of your stomach you have to just get rid of fat in general, which means doing whatever workout that maximizes the amount of energy you'll expend.

cardio like running, etc. is a very good way of doing this, but many overlook the fact that weightlifting is actually good for burning fat, since it requires so much energy. the reason weightlifters often *gain* fat is because of their diet; since their purpose is to gain muscle (and thus weight), they eat a lot of food and gain fat along w/ the muscle.

if you're on a good diet, either weightlifting or cardio will do a great job of losing fat.
