I edited a picture, renamed, and saved it. Unfortunately, I clicked on the box for save changes when closing the program, which then altered the original photograph. I did this in Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Does anyone know how to revert to the original photograph (a collection of three photographs on one page. I want all three, not just the one I cropped)? I feel like there should be some way to do this. After all, clicking properties tells me the original file was put there at so and so time, and edited today. Please help me if you have any guesses or hints. I would love to have my pictures back!

urrrrgh. It is highly unlikely that you can get back the original photo off the harddrive if you have saved it.

As I guess you have just learnt, you always want to *save a copy* of the original *first* and then modify the copy.

These sort of mistakes are usually painful enough that you won't forget next time to do this next time.

Places to try and look:

Goto START>RUN and enter "%temp%". You might get lucky and find a copy of the original in here (depending on how you opened the file).

Do you have a backup anywhere else of your harddrive that will have a copy?(Lesson #2 if you don't - always back stuff up).

Did anyone email you the photo, or did you email it to anyone. It might be floating around as an attachment in your out book, or their IN box that can be recovered.

Do you have access to the original file in any format (digital, slide, negative, print?) that you can use to reload it into the PC?

I hope someone can prove me wrong with this, it is painful to lose stuff like that.

There is a free program that will allow you to change formats, assuming you find the pic you saved. Try to google pic formats. Good luck.
