No one person can know everything - so to say there is no God, is arrogance... when a person says they are Athiest, they are in fact saying that they don't know God personally. He is outside of their realm of knowledge...
To know God personally, prayer is all that is needed. If we seek God sincerely, we will find Him.

Let's pretend that instead of Christianity and Islam being the two largest religions in the world, worship of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and Alfonso, the Magical Pink Unicorn, are.
You would say that someone who believes in these religions is more than likely "stupid" and "illogical" and, most of all, "delusional." While we can't PROVE that there is no FSM or AMPU, we can recognize that those who do truly believe in them are, well, "stupid, illogical, [and] delusional."
When you look at Christianity and Islam from an outsiders standpoint, you will soon see how insane they both are (wrathful god, murdering nonbelievers/innocent people, legitimized discrimination, bizarre rituals), as well as most other religions, and how similar they are to belief in the FSM or AMPU. The evidence for them and God and Allah is all equal.
Arrogant? No, I just believe in one less god than you do. You're arrogant when you say that all other religions are wrong except yours.
Biased? Well, yes. Everyone is biased.
Unfounded? Not at all! See analogies above.
Please, refute atheism. E-mail me or something. I'm really curious to see how you can point out why not believing in God is simply wrong.
While that all might have seemed to be kind of circling around the question, but never answering it, the point is, you are forced to deduce that atheism is the only idea that does not hold an irrational viewpoint of some sky god creator who loves you but will still send you to hell in a heartbeat (but is yoru heartbeat actually 100 years to him!?)
I'm a bit tired, so this probably won't make sense anyway.

Any religion worth its salt is a "Revealed" religion. That means you are relying on someone's dream experience as the basis of your belief. In the case of Christianity, that person was Paul. Paul never actually physically met Jesus (unless you count that dream revelation). Neither did the Evangelists who lived 30 to 90 years after Jesus and through who's writings we know Jesus.
Besides, all western religions are pretty much recycled stories of the earlier Babylonian gods. The trail can be traced from Babylonia to Egypt to Greece to Rome. Christianity finally became a recognized religion when Constantine I declared it so and set up the ground rules of which stories were acceptable and which weren't.
I'm not saying I believe there is no way there could have ever or will ever be a god, I'm just saying,"Why can't we all get along.. even if there is no god".
Maybe that's why I like the Humanist approach. You can be any religion or no religion and be a Humanist. Open to any and all beliefs because it doesn't depend on some Santa Claus figure (tell me Santa isn't a god symbol with his white beard!) to scare you into being good.
To answer your question...
Atheism is not logical as much as every religion is illogical!
-----------------------------------
Abel - You make the same mistake Atheists make... trying to find logic in religion. You argument about space-time and the big-bang were going along swimmingly until, for no connected reason, you threw in an intelligent being as the cause for the big-bang. Where did that come from? You don't need the look past the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle to explain why the Big Bang occured. The whole event can be reduced to a few Feynman diagrams.
Don't forgot the Einstien quotes:
"My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind."
and
"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

Are you sure you know what 'refute' means?
Religion is not stupid, it is not evil, it is not bad, or wrong. It is illogical. That is a fact. If you were to tell me a crazy story and I said, "well, gee, that may be possible, but it sounds kinda wacky, can you prove it?" It's not my job to demonstrate that your story is wrong, it's your job to demonstrate that it's true. That's called the burden of proof, and it's always on the side that makes the assertion, not on the side that makes the denial. It also sounds like you slightly misunderstand the atheist position.
Many atheists acknowledge the possibility of a god, however, they do not accept the god as true because there is no proof. God may exist, but I will not have faith, because faith is illogical. Faith is a declaration of what exists, instead of an investigation. Until you have investigated something, it is wrong to say it does or doesn't exist, and it is wrong to believe that it exists. Atheism does not say "I believe that god doesn't exist." It says "I don't believe that god exists."
Faith isn't bad, just illogical. Not stupid, just irrational.
Peace.

All I can do is look at the evidence, and its source, and its credibility, and its cohesiveness. Only science shows the depth of knowledge, the interconnectivity between disciplines, the repeatability of tests, the multitude of different sources.
You have a book that conflicts itself, that tells things that are impossible, that sounds for all the world like a list of tales made up by people who had no other way to explain what they saw around them except by inventing a supernatural being. Granted, it has some very good rules embedded in it about how to get along with others, and how to treat people. But that can be done without needing a supernatural deity.

Why are there atheists? That should have been your question. It is not a question of whether atheism makes sense or not. It does not.
All the hard evidence to prove the existence of God is there. Even if an atheist meets Jesus face to face I don't he will change his position. He will probably do so when he has no other choice.
Why? Because atheists are in denial. They deny the existence of God because of the responsibility and commitments they have to
make once they become believers. It's as simple as that.
For the the atheists who answered your question how can you deny the existence of God with this proof.
100 years ago this year, Albert Einstein published three papers that rocked the world. These papers proved the existence of the atom, introduced the theory of relativity, and described quantum mechanics.
Pretty good debut for a 26-year-old scientist, huh?
His equations for relativity indicated that the universe was expanding. This bothered him, because if it was expanding, it must have had a beginning and a beginner. Since neither of these appealed to him, Einstein introduced a 'fudge factor' that ensured a 'steady state' universe, one that had no beginning or end.
But in 1929, Edwin Hubble showed that the furthest galaxies were fleeing away from each other, just as the Big Bang model predicted. So in 1931, Einstein embraced what would later be known as the Big Bang theory, saying, "This is the most beautiful and satisfactory explanation of creation to which I have ever listened." He referred to the 'fudge factor' to achieve a steady-state universe as the biggest blunder of his career.
Einstein's theories have been thoroughly proved and verified by experiments and measurements, but there's an even more important implication of Einstein's discovery. Not only does the universe have a beginning, but also time itself, our own dimension of cause and effect, began with the Big Bang.
That's right -- time itself does not exist before then. The very line of time begins with that creation event. Matter, energy, time and space were created in an instant by intelligence outside of space and time.
About this intelligence, Albert Einstein wrote in his book "The World As I See It" that the harmony of natural law "Reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection."
He went on to write, "Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe--a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble."
Pretty significant statement, wouldn't you say?
Peace and every blessing!

yeah i hate this too.
i'm not-religious, but i also believe that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. we can't prove unequivocally whether or not god exists, so who am i to insult people who do belive in god just because i don't? everyone has their reasons for what they believe, and whether i agree with them or not doesn't make their beliefs any less valid.
and in response to Leuroth, creationists don't deny that water/sunlight are what makes a plant grow. they're not saying science isn't real. they're merely saying that the sun/water/etc. was put here by god which set things in motion to allow plants to grow. believing in god doesn't mean abandoning all science, logic and common sense.
and to the person that asked this question, unlike some of the other people, i don't see you up there bashing atheism. i see you merely making a point about accepting other religions. not once did you say that atheism was "illogical," nor did you say it was wrong. in fact, you said that no one can prove either side, showing that you are open-minded and non-judgemental. and i for one, appreciate that. :)

Atheism is irrefutable. Not believing cannot be refuted, ya dimwit. Atheism is the only logical choice since no evidence exists for god beings.
There is not evidence what soever for your god or any of the other several thousand gods man has concocted since the beginning of time.

Logic is objective. Faith is subjective. The chances of either being right is 50-50. Have a look at the link from Stanford University on Pascal's Wager and see what what further questions or answers open to you.

You obviously have no idea what refute means. You clearly also have no idea what logical means. So, why do you even bother to ask a question when you cannot comprehend the answer? We know.

If you honestly believe that Atheism is logical, then you should really think something through, why isn't there goriallas becoming humans now? What made the big bang? How come Charles Darwin, refused his own theroy, because there isn't and will not be enough science in the world to prove that humans came from monkeys or gorillas.
And yes there isn't any science in proving that God excists, but it sounds alot better when you think about it, because it gives life a better purpose, and has it that you came from a human being who is now a God, and it even explians how or why there was a boom suddenly in the sky. right?
That's what I choose to believe anyway.
