The best thing to use is tea tree oil. Rub a drop onto each nail and on the skin around each nail. Tea tree oil is a powerful antifungal and antiseptic essential oil that you can find in any drug store... even Walmart in the health and beauty dept. Thyme essential oil is good too, but you will see quick results from the tea tree oil.

Also, since fungus likes damp dark places, air your feet out as much as possible. Expose them to sunlight whenever you can and try to keep them dry. Socks or stockings made of natural fibers are best, like cotton, wool or silk.

I would soak my feet in diluted bleach water for a minute (might burn like a SOB) and then rinse 3 or 4 times a day if you can't spend the $12 for yeast infection medicine (any pharmacy, no RX necessary) and put it on your toes. Jock itch and fungal toes are often yeast infections. Put yeast infection medicine on it. It usually feels better immediately and will be gone in 3 days. One doctor told me to put BenGay on a toe infection. It seemed to do the trick too. I don't know why.

If it is the toenails, you must take anti-fungals medicine for about 3 months.
If it is "athlete's foot', you can use mouthwash (alcohol) on the area and it should improve.

I read about using vaseline in a hints column. I tried it and it seemed to work, but I was not very consistent. The article said to rub a thin layer over the toenails every day after bathing.
Hope it works for you.

Vicks VapoRub, used religiously.

I got this from my doctor, which is why I love her--no fancy-schmancy stuff when Grandma's remedy will do.

It works!

I'm poor, so I buy the store brand.
