Me and a close guy friend have been talking a lot more recently, he took me out for lunch, he said he was ganna ask me to our next school dance because of a little bet we made and sometimes he texts me at 3 in teh morning to see if i cant sleep either, and then if im awake too he'll call me. but he says he cant date this year with school work and SATs and everything. So when my friend asked him what the deal was.. he said we were just friends. He tries to make me jealous but telling me another girl called him last night or in the morning and by calling other girls cute infront of me. He said ive got both looks and personality and he thinks im really cute. I kinda like him but i dont know what hes doing because hes soo confusing... what do i do?

Heheheh, classic guy shyness. He is using the guise of friendship to hide himself from it. He is flirting with chicks in the hope that it will make you jelous and confirm that you like him.
Its possible he is hiding behind the schoolwork as an excuse or it could be real. If its real tell him to go away if he just wants to flirt, he is toying with you and thats unfair to you.

The problem with confronting him is he will just make up excuses again and again. You need to play the game and see if he bites. Since guys arnt about to bust out of noware and say that they love you. Try making him want you, and if he does then he likes ya

He likes you. It just sounds like he thinks you would reject him so he is setting it up like he doesn't care at all. That way, if you don't care about him he won't look like an idiot. I hope that makes sense :)
He might also just be overwhelmed by all the things he has going in his life. So, try to be ubderstabding toward that. Offer study sessions for the SATs, for example.
