Hmmm....well this all depends on how long she kept it there and what the situation was, and how well you know each other, and how long you've been acquaintances, and who else was around and.....you get the picture.

What it comes down to is this: either she meant it as a very un-subtle hint that she's interested in you, or it was a merely a friendly gesture. But you have to ask yourself:

How long did she keep her hand on mine?
Did she look at me when she did it?
Did she smile?
Were we alone or were there other people around?

If she kept her hand on yours for longer than--say--a slow 5 seconds (one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand....etc.) then she's pretty much into you. I wouldn't keep my hand on a guy's hand for longer than 5 seconds unless we were really close friends or I was totally into him.

But if this was just casual contact between friends or co-workers (about the equivalent of a shared eye-roll at a teacher's/boss' misunderstandings or a friendly pat on the back), then forget it. She's either a pretty touchy-feely person or she thinks you guys are on really good terms.

If she looked you right in the eye when she put her hand on top of yours and smiled, that's another sign that it might be something more than just a friendly sign of affection. But if she just brushed your hand and quickly drew it back and looked away, it was most likely a mistake that she didn't intend to do.

One time I accidentally put my hand on a colleague's hand when trying to take control of a computer mouse; and he totally took it the wrong way. So don't assume too much! If it was only a gesture, then it's just a gesture, and leave it at that. But if she's constantly talking to/about you or waiting for you after class or by your desk, then she's probably interested.

Cheers!
