Not all of the energy that comes out of the wall comes from fossil fuel generators. About a fifth of it comes from hydroelectric generators, like the ones at Hoover dam. Hydro electric is totally renewable and is one of the oldest ways invented to generate electricity. It is also probably THE cheapest way to generate electricity. If there were more rivers, all the utilities would use hydroelectric for ALL their generators.
