Driving along the M4 the Wiltsure police caught me doing 90 miles and hour..was taking my grandson back to his mums after respite...I have a clean license and my grandson was making me sing to him.. he is autistic. I lost concentration and overtook the vehicles in front and they had all slowed down. Because they saw the police with the van on the bridge.. What do I do now.. have a clean license.. I normally don't speed really.. I don't......... im an idiot.. I know. But can anyone offer advice. the pic is a clear one. I am scared stiff..

When I said I lost concentration.. I meant that i didn't see the Police Van on the bridge. Not that I wasn't concentrating on the road. Was overtaking.. didn't do that speed all the way..

I really do feel bad about it. I never usually speed. I am such a stupid person. What would I write to them if I didn't have to appear.. oh I hope not..

Thank you everyone who has answered. I have told the police that I am sorry and hope that they are lenient with me. I wish I never went out that day as just before this I was ill in bed for 5 weeks. I don't think that I will ever overtake again. Certainly not at that speed. I hope everyone who has read this will please take care on our roads. Life is precious. I should know! My father died in a car crash. I am the most stupidest person.. I have learnt a valuable lesson.

Relax, it's a fine (£80) and three points, you won't be going to court or anything.
Ignore the morons who are mocking you. These things happen, and if this country had even half an idea about motorwar driving they'd realise that 90mph on a motorway perfectly safe. Indeed, if you're driving a decent modern car, coppers very rarely pull you at 90 (I should know, the old man is one) as a modern car will pull up in less than half the distance that the highway code specifies, it really is due a revision.
Cambridge police are having a crackdown on speeding, heaven forbid they actually go and catch some real criminals.......

Don't beat yourself up. Its really easy to let the speed slip up on the motorway.
I would be surprised if it even gets to court. They will normally offer a fixed penalty of about £60 and 3 points. The points are valid and need to be declared to your insurance company for three years and can be removed from your license after four.
Very few insurers increase the premium for three points. I had six points and all they did was increased my policy excess by £50.
Best thing is to hold your hands up, accept the points and the fine and try not to do it again.
Good luck

If you were driving at 90 mph you were speeding. The penalty you pay will be determined by the magistrate at your court appearance. They may take into consideration the reason why you were speeding, but at the end of the day whatever happens is up to them. I would imagine you will get some points and probablly a fine.

None of the above is relevant except for the fact you were speeding and therefore a danger to other road users and your grandson.
3 penalty points and £80 is the minimum and your insurance premium will rise.
Be more careful in future.
