I believe she has pulled something in her shoulder blade area. I read the warnings/instructions on the tube and it says nothing about age. It does say not to use or contact a doctor before using on children with arthritis.

First of all I did not hurt my baby girl!!!! Oh, and how I know that she might have pulled something is because I seen what happened to her. Her and my three year old were playing together and her arm was pulled backwards!!! Plus, it's not like I haven't raised her everyday of her life, so I know when something is wrong with her. A mother notices signs when their child is in pain. I knew all you dumbasses out there would find way to my question. Anyways, I just wanted to know if anyone knew if it would do her any harm, as I said it doesn't say anything on the tube.

By no means do you need to put ben-gay on your 1 year old. You should give her some infant or childrens ibuprofen and if she is still in pain after a day you definitly need to take her to see her pediatrician. It could be something simple or it could be something more serious. You need to do what is best for your child and if she is still in pain you need to have her checked out. I hope she is ok.

Also look for an 800 number and website on the packaging.
I'm going to _guess_ it's OK, based on the fact that it's topical (applied externally), and is basically a counter-irritant which gets the skin surface blood vessels to dilate to provide more local warmth from the body's own supply.
Plus, being topical, if you notice any irritation (bumps or blistering), you can wash it off using lukewarm water and soap. Don't use cold water--it sounds sensible, but the cold closes pores and locks the BenGay in!

I know that she's only 13, but if the pain is severe to the point that she is out of school several days each month, you might want to consider the birth control pill. I started menstruating at the age of 11, and I had extremely painful periods. Nothing would help fully, not aspirin, Tylenol, or Midol. I tried heating pads and doing sit ups and walking and hot baths, but I would still be in pain. At 15, I talked to a gynecologist who told me that the only thing that would relieve the cramps was the pill. Since being on the pill, my cramps are only mildly irritating instead of being completely debilitating.

bengay is not recommended for infants because it could intefere with breathing due to the strong chemical smell. it could cause her to have respiratory problems. it could also cause her to have an allergic reaction or break out since babies have such sensitive skin.
i would use infant motrin drops (follow the dosage instructions on the package) or infants tylenol to help with the pain. you can also warm up a towel or blanket in the dryer and apply that to her shoulder.
if she seems to be in severe pain that is not relieved by the motrin then i would take her into the er to be evaluated-there is a slight chance that she could have dislocated her shoulder which is extremely painful (but easy to fix).

Oh dear god NO!! She would wail and her skin would develop such a painful rash! I would try children's ibuprofen as it is an antinflammatory. And also try some ice or maybe a warm compress. Hope she feels better soon.

Bengay is too harsh for your baby's tender skin, it would damage the skin. Do not use on a 1 year old. Bengay could burn the tender skin.

NO, asolutely not; her nerves aren't developed properly and it will do her nerve damage not to mention you'll have a screaming cvhild on your hands. Take her to the emergency room and find out what happened.

One is far too young to use something like that on her. I would give her children's Tylenol and put a warm towel on her shoulder.

No, I wouldn't even think about it. Why would you think she pulled something? I think she needs a doctor.
