Depression is a lack of the appropriate neurotransmitters that help you feel good.

That means that depression is something that you don't want to kill...what you want is to give positive things to it.

While it is not an easy thing that can be fixed with out effort...it can be helped by increasing the serotonin and other chemicals in your body.

This can be done by therapy or changing the way you think (complex and done with the help of a doctor) and a combination of changing your situation. Often medication can assist with clearing your thoughts so that you are able to solve the issues that are pulling you down.

Speak with a doctor. Speak with your parents if it is appropriate. Either way, recognize that educating yourself is the first step to take.

If you need motivation...consider a walk or some exercise. This will temporarily increase the happy chemicals in your mind.

good luck. Your arent' alone at all. Just look around on this site. Relief can be achieved. Be patient and explore your options.

I am 31 one years old. I have a good husband and lil daughter . I have moved t an area with beautiful beaches to a green place with no beach. The beach has always had that effective influence on me. Since we have moved to here my health started deteriorating and started getting sick and so depressed and feeling lonely though my family is around me. I had suicidal thoughts but never applied them. Doc said I got anxiety but I really got nothing to worry about. I drag myself around don't know what to do around morning or evening time. It feels just like another day elapsed out of my life waiting for the end or something great to happen to motivate me , I lost interest in eating, working, working out, even sex so to mention few. I am not sure where this is going, I feel so better when talking it out. But who has full time for me and my probs. Does anyone knows what is wrong with me and why did this happen over only two years??

There is nothing you can do any one time to totally kill depression short of electric shock treatment. Exercise does help alleviate the symptoms because exercise causes endorphins to start flowing in the brain, but it doesn't last long. I know, because last year, I suffered a major depressive episode and I used exercise to try to alleviate the symptoms. It helped for a short time (a few hours), but it wasn't enough. Antidepressants typically take a few weeks to become effective from the first regular dose so that means if you suffer from depression and have just started taking antidepressants, you will have to suffer for a few weeks before you start noticing any difference, and other people will notice it before you do.

Do the best you can to think positive and that takes discipline. meditation is good. Go and do things when you don't feel like it, you may get a surprise and feel better. If its intolerable medication can help take the edge off, but never think that will be the magic potion, but you can do it if you put your mind and heart in it good luck

Find someone to talk to. Try exercising. It releases endorphines that can temporarily make you feel better. Try getting out and around different environments.
