When I first started using PCs in the mid 90s, I was taught that all file sshould be compacted to the "front" of the disk for fater retrieval. When I use Microsoft's Disk Defragmenter it tell me I don't need to defrag, but the display shows huges spaces between some of the files. Is it possible for me to compress the files to a fault?

No, as a matter of fact, Windows suggests you defrag on a regular basis especially if you're like me and use your computer for long periods of time. I deal with a lot of graphics on my computer. I know if I don't defrag on a weekly basis my computer drags and seems to not work as well as it did when I used the comp for the first time out of the box.

It's not possible to over defrag. The windows program will analyze then defrag as many times as you hit the button-but, as for destroying anything........unless you delete it.

My PC has an "analyzer" before I defrag. It, also, tells me I don't have to defrag at this time. I do it anyway. Can't hurt. Windows will defrag to the max and that's it.

You should also run Disk Cleanup and Scandisk regularly.

You were told that in the 90's because you had crappy slow hard drives back then. Defragging with help a little, but if windows says you dont need to, then dont.

The SATA 2.5" no longer easypersistent is basically a complex call for the in many circumstances happening inner or outdoors computing device stressful tension with a decrease rpm (approximately 5400). you will no longer be able to be conscious a working pc or computing device no longer easypersistent employing heat temperature era, and that i think of of it is basically now no longer appropriate matched with the PS3, so come to a decision for the computing device 2.5" stressful tension. there is not any decrease on the ability of the tension. the certainly length of the stressful tension does no longer bear in mind as quickly as you're installation it externally (i.e. connecting it to a usb port, rather than internally, actual installation it into the ps3). maximum persons come to a decision for the exterior stressful tension employing actuality it is transported and hooked as much as diverse platforms and this is going for use in complement to the cutting-edge ps3 stressful tension.
