They are called metaphors, figures of speech.

Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Who's symbolic of the Sun? Christ, He's the light, the WORD the truth. Turned to darkness means there is no truth.

Moon is symbolic of Satan, moon turned to blood of a dead man Satan Rev 16:3. Before the Day of the LORD.

Rev 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

Sun, Christ the truth is darkened by the smoke of the pit.
Whats this smoke? Lies and deception darkens the truth.

Air is symbolic of the Holy Spirit, it also was darkened by the smoke from the pit.

Who do the lies and deception come from?

Rev 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

The lies all come from Satan.

Are we there yet?

The sun is a star that will die out as a "white dwarf" in the next 4 billion years. I doubt that using the Bible as a predicter of Armaggeddeon will help you.

No, the Bible does not predict the sun will "go out."
However, there will be a new earth, and there will be no need for the sun, nor the moon.

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. (Acts 2:20)

Before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine. (Joel 2:10)

I don't know, but The Bible also predicts that the son of the omnipotent sky-daddy, who is himself the sky-daddy at the same time is going to come back down to Earth and render his ultimate judgment.

The book of Revelation does tell us the sun will not shine eternally. Jesus and God will be brighter than the sun could ever be.
