In large quantities, yes. But they are a lot less fattening than chocolate and stuff like that.

VERY fattening! There is a lot of calories in them. There is almost the same amount of calories in the sugar-free gummies as there are in the ones with sugar!
You should be able to determine whether they are fattening by looking at the nutrition information on the back of the package. Excessive calories (energy)=Body Fat. It does not matter what form the calories come in.

To answer this, I think you might want to consider what gummy bears contain. Basically, gummy bears contain gelatin, gum arabic, sugar and flavoring.

Gelatin is actually collagen proteins - extracted from animal bones and cartilage. Excess protein in the body is converted to fats after being removing their nitrogen content and turning in into urea.

Gum arabic on the other hand, is similar to sugar. In excess of these things will be stored as fats as well.

In short, too much gummy bears will result to fats, as the excess sugars and proteins are all stored as fats in the body. However, if you eat moderately gummy bears should be considered 'healthier' than most other snacks. In fact, you'll need to eat a whole jar of gummy bears for it to be substantially fattening.
