I´m translating a TV program into portuguese and it comes up.

hollering is what a wife does to a husband when she is displeased..but she does not call it hollering..just trying to get our attention.

hollering is raising your voice above what is considered normal speech..a tirade..a outburst of vocal energy..sorry..it is hard to translate an emotional outburst...

yelling...i think "holler" is a term used mostly by us hicks...
"i hollered at billy way over yonder, but he still ain't hearin me."
