I have been living in south Orange County California since 1994 and still have not felt an earthquake. There are probably hundreds everyday, like 2.1 which are too small to feel. California is much safer natural disaster wise than Florida with the many devastating hurricanes or Texas Oklahoma with the twisters.
I do not see why anyone would want to live in those place or even in the east coast with the sever winters.
this part of southern cali is the best for weather, hardly rains
but a few days a year. never gets cold never gets hot

Thousands. The vast majority are too small to be felt, and a few occasionally cause some very minor shaking.

Search around on the website below to find a list of major earthquakes. I would do it, but you are the one who wants to know.

And it depends on what you mean by "major." 5.0 and higher earthquakes that shake a lot but don't damage everything happen maybe once or twice per year in heavily populated areas. Earthquakes 7.0 and higher that cause widespread damage and death happen a few times per century.

I live pretty close to fault lines and the only major earthquake I was around for was in 1989. There are lots of very small earthquakes but they can't be felt.

i've been living between the bay area and sacramento for the last 22 years. from my experience there has only been 2 major ones. there's little earthquakes here and there, but nothing that's alerting.

Since you're asking this in the Sacramento thread, there's none in Sacramento. I didn't even feel the Loma Prieta quake in 1989.
